Tell me something positive about yourself :)

I was blow drying a dog today and I thought to myself, there is a lot of random cool things we accomplish - and it may be due to our intuitiveness brought on by our ADHD.

Ever accomplished something entirely random and even useless and can't find an appropriate place to share? Or just want to brag about yourself a bit? Well I'm curious! Tell me something you accomplished! Anything. I'll start.

When Pokemon came out with its trading card game, I didn't know how to play it. So I played the game boy version. But I only had the Japanese version. Never understood a word anyone was saying on the game and I couldnt read the cards but I ended up understanding it through trial and error and symbols. I learned how to play and got the concept and ended up beating the game. I became an excellent card player in real life. I laughed at first when I played the actual cards because I could actually read them. Through symbols and math I was able to learn a game that I couldn't read or understand the language. Useless, but I am pretty proud of that!

So tell me, what have you accomplished?

I dont believe adhd gives me any special intuition but I will say that I can curse like nobodys business.

Re: Tell me something positive about yourself :)

I have an accomplishment that i am proud of.
My boyfriend bought me a drawing tablet for my laptop so i could start using mypaint properly (because, to add the bragging part, im a good artist. He believed in me that much.).
I run ubuntu(linux) on my computer, and back at that point i was still fairly new to it, but my bf was good at it. He could have set up my tablet within an hour, but for some reason i was determined to learn how to do it myself!
So, after about five days of first googling and reading all about my tablets model and compatability with my version of ubuntu, then reading what to do, trying and failing and then learning exactly what the bloody h*ll a kernel was and fixing that seperate problem... i got it up and working ALL BY MYSELF!
I have never enjoyesd anything so much, haha. Using a tablet that i had made work all by myself. I was pretty proud; considering the amount of times i nearly gave up, lost sleep time and had a fair few mini tantrums during which i contemplated cracking my netbook open like a coconut- to say the least!
As for something good about me... I guess my artwork. Im a good drawer when it comes to charcoal- i love charcoal and i think im good with detailed light to dark portraits, and also my bf loves my cartoons. I draw our 'friends', lol, and he says im always spot on about 'what it is about (insert name here)' and he thinks my cartoons are witty.
unfortunately the jokes that come out of my mouth dont do it for him that much! lol

Re: Tell me something positive about yourself :)

Last year I sat on the committee board to organize a city-wide fundraising event to raise money and awareness for homelessness in our area. We raised over $1,000 to donate to an area homeless shelter! I felt really good about that, considering it was just me and one other person doing 90% of the planning and execution of said plans.

Re: Tell me something positive about yourself :)

Speaking of Pokemon, my first game was Pokemon Yellow and I filled up my pokedex with all the pokemon available in the game by catching or evolving them. I spent hours trying to find a Dratini then more hours evolving it. I had thought about using gameshark just to have fun with the walking through walls code... then I learned about roms.. :P

I also made it sort of a goal of mine to watch every episode of my favorite shows, but I was never interested in seeing them more than once. Now I don't watch television because I moved and I don't feel like getting an outdoor antenna to get a TV signal where I live. Another odd goal I came up with was finding and collecting all videos I can find on youtube about any random subject and categorizing them into playlists. Some of them range from things like pokemon game commentaries to other things like videos about other people with adhd and even aspergers (because we have very interesting lives).

I also privately blog to myself about philosophical things to try to make sense of how I think...

I've made a lot of new friends at work and lost 15 pounds since starting work! None of my clothes fit, but I'm excited anyway. Also, the grades for my 2012 spring semester came in, and I got a 100% or above in every single class! I'm so proud of myself for that. These are the best grades I've ever gotten!

Re: Tell me something positive about yourself :)

20 mins is usually all I need to reach a decent level of competency in most video games. Depends on genre of course. Not saying "best of all" but enough it's hard to notice how new I am if there isn't a level system.

I'm honest to a fault. I mean that literally. Honesty unrestrained becomes a double edged sword. Knowing how to not say anything is a crucial skill to surviving with compulsive honesty.

I can write decent free-form poetry. Only when the mood strikes me and almost always to capture the nature of a feeling or mood.

I suppose I've always kept my eyes forward to tomorrow. After all a good nights sleep gets you tomorrow and sometimes that's all you need.

I have been consistently going to watercolor painting classes, and I'm doing great! Watercolor is a very difficult medium to work with because it requires so much patience!

I can dress myself.

And successfully played Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PC game in French without speaking the language. Don't ask why as the English version was an option too.

Re: Tell me something positive about yourself :)

I always get stopped at the grocery store for directions to the bathroom or asked what aisle a particular food item is in. Every dang time! It's the strangest thing, and even though I am pushing my child in a full grocery cart, it's obvious I don't work there. It's a gift right?!

I am really good at knowing what region a wine is made from, or if I've had the wine before, I can tell you what the name of brand is. I have a really good memory for wine labels too. I am not a Sommelier either. I worked for a couple wine stores in the past, and it's just something that i really loved learning about.
