Attention Canadians

I know there's several of you on here. I'm from the states, and I'm planning on taking classes in Vancouver for the next year or so, if not longer. Just so I'm prepared, what is it like with doctors in the great white north? Are you aware of medications that are available in the US that aren't available up there? I think I heard somebody say that you don't have adderall, but I think that might have been New Zealand.

International students are required to have health insurance, and there's even supplemental insurance that I can get. I guess I'm just curious what your experiences have been with the healthcare system up there. I'm not saying my experiences have been great in the states, but just curious what I should expect up there.

Re: Attention Canadians

Finding a doctor that takes new patients can be difficult but there are walk-in clinics. I'm not sure what they're like for getting a prescription.

You can only get adderall xr here - no ir. Good news is that there are no shortages. Prescriptions are usually written for three months at a time too.

Re: Attention Canadians

Two words: Hastings Street.

Oh, wait, you meant the legal kind... No clue. Stay away from the aforementioned street though.

Re: Attention Canadians

In Canada adderall is available along with pretty much all the other medications. Finding a doc is simple call CHADD they will give you a list of adhd friendly docs. Getting to see one my take a while. No walking clinic will prescribe adhd meds.

You lucky duck, you will love Vancouver, except for the high cost of living.

It's sounding better and better! I've been to Vancouver once, and it was amazing. I currently live in the bay area in California though, so I think that it's just as expensive down here, I already got through the shock when I moved here from San Diego, which is expensive as well.

I just hope someday I get a good job.

Re: Attention Canadians

OMG...hahahahahaha

You are moving to VANCOUVER bring your RAIN umbrella!!! And yes, leave your beer at home. Yes, its expensive, but there are other cities you could live in and commute. Are you going to UBC?

Overall, health care is good here. Usually doctors are so loaded with patients they don't list as seeking new patients. Some doctors have regular practices and also cover in walk in clinics, you can always ask if they will take you as a patient.
