New member, positive change.
So I am a new member, recently diagnosed with ADHD, although I was diagnosed when I was a child with ADHD. As a child, I was put on ritalin as well as clonodine. I don't really know if the medicine helped me as a child, because it seemed like everytime i went back to the doctor he would just up my dosage. So by high school i finally told my parents i did not want to take the medicine anymore because i didn't feel like it was helping me, although i regret now not trying to go a different route. I am now 27 years old and finally broke down and told myself i need to go back to the doctors to because for the past few years i have felt the symptoms of adhd returning along with some new symptoms. Lately i seem to become very easily irritated and i am taking my frustration out on the wrong people, (my wife and son). So as of yesterday my doctor put me back on ritalin 10mg.
So i have decided to not only treat the problem, but i feel i need to push myself to make positive changes in my life. I have a great job, great family, and it's time to make my life as well as their lives better. I will post how i am doing with the ritalin as far as effects and changes. If anyone has any tips or support feel free to post them here. I would love to hear any tips anyone else has. |

Re: New member, positive change.
My best tip, and this is a personal thing that may help you in the future, is to lay off of the coffee after noon. Cutting out the caffeine completely is ideal, but that's not an option for a lot of us.
I've had problems sleeping from taking Adderall, and I found that limiting my caffeine intake really helped. Exercising first thing in the morning also helps me, but that's also a personal thing.Another tip I could give you would be to eat. Adderall is known to curb appetites while it's in effect, but once it wears out...ANIMAL! I literally force myself to eat during the day to avoid destroying the contents of my fridge after the 12 hours. There's a lot to get used to, and it varies from person to person. You'll find your way on handle all the little challenges being on ADD medication throws our way. ![]() Good luck!

Re: New member, positive change.
I got a bound book to write things down in... I called it my mobile brain.
Any goals - I broke them down to steps in that book. Doodles - in the book Nowadays I use my iPhone... Works better on the reminder front but impossible to doodle in use freely. All power to you for your powerful intentions. Love to hear how it's going. ![]() |
