The Unimaginable

On this forum I have mentioned my little sister many, many times. I've referred to her mostly as my little "space cadet", the yin to my yang as far as our ADHD goes.

I am completely devastated to tell you that she passed away this week.

I have never felt more lost and alone in my entire life.

If you pray, please pray for me and my family. And if you have any songs, quotes, etc. that you think may bring some comfort or peace, please feel free to share them here. I am absolutely inconsolable right now, and I do not think that comfort will find me for a long, long time, but any and every little thing helps. Thank you.

Re: The Unimaginable

On Death
Kahlil Gibran

You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.
Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?
Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

I wish I could think of anything that I could say. But I know nothing helps and saying that I am sorry to hear this sounds so small and weak in the face of what you are going through.

Re: The Unimaginable

I lost my younger sister 5 years ago and I still miss her like crazy.

But I do have lots of great memories of her and the times we spent together.

It takes time to grieve, don't let anyone try to put a time limit on your feelings.

But don't spend every minute of the day thinking about awful you feel.

Cry sometimes, but laugh sometimes too about the crazy things you did

and the stupid stuff you fought about and the secrets you shared with her.

(((hugs)))
