Lightbulb Anyone else having instructional issues on here ?

I am a "newbie" to this site and chat boards, forums, ect! This is the first for me. It is side hurting hilarious to me to see the "instructional and etiquette " Must read first directions on here! I have tried multiple times to read over them and can't get past the first couple of sentences. And I am medicated! It has to be for the people on here with children , spouses, or just interested in all that is us ADD peeps( we are the most eccentric interesting people on earth )
My point is this...... Being a site 100% dedicated to ADD/ADHD You have to wonder who actually can or able to focus long enough to read boring a** directions instructions.... The irony is NOT lost on me! Hehe

Re: Anyone else having instructional issues on here ?

I guess you will just have to power through seeing how there are rules for every site or forum.

Re: Anyone else having instructional issues on here ?

Most of the "rules" are really just common sense, I guess. (err..not that common sense is that common or that I'm that great at it.)

I guess, it has to be written down in black & white not just as a disclaimer but also so that if anyone breaks any house rules, there is a place they can be referred to. Or as a reminder.

I've read them. There is nothing crazy in them. Most of them do make sense and are just there to make the experience more pleasant for everyone.

Re: Anyone else having instructional issues on here ?

For reference, ADDF Guidelines and Etiquette can be found here:
http://www.addforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=75

The guidelines have evolved over time, which is part of the reason they're a little..."organic" and maybe less compact than desirable. Also, there were a few legal disclaimers, etc., that had to be included.

The staff hope, at some point, to update and streamline the guidelines for easier readability. But as we're all volunteers, and most of us have ADHD, don't hold your breath for a slick new Guidelines section anytime soon!

Meanwhile, if you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to contact one of your friendly neighborhood moderators.

Basically:
- be civil,
- keep the content of your posts "family-friendly",
- don't try to sell stuff or services here,
- don't even think about asking to buy medications from ADDF members,
- don't divulge identifying personal info (name, phone, e-mail, address, etc.) for yourself or others,
- avoid discussing illegal activity (except in designated sections, like drug addictions in "Substance Abuse"),
- stay away from a few hot-button issues (politics, religion),
and most of the other stuff is "gravy".

(And if something else is not in keeping with guidelines, someone will probably let you know privately. But don't sweat it.)

I've lost count of how many inboxes I have gotten from the moderators here, due to my big mouth...

We are good at teaching the rules and reminding you!

Re: Anyone else having instructional issues on here ?

My best chance of figuring out rules is to wait until someone upsets me
and then look to see if they've broken any rules.
