Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
I'm just wondering. I just went to Norway and it seems to be a REALLY ADD-friendly country out there (ESPECIALLY compared to Germany where I transferred flights but where I could definitely tell that Germany was definitely NOT an ADD-friendly place).
And how friendly is it compared with the U.S. and Canada in particular? |

Re: Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
I don't know if Norway is ADD friendly but I suspect that Norway is everything-friendly. I've met some of the nicest, most tolerant and most helpful people there. They just seem so accepting of everything and everyone. I guess that helps, in particular, if you've got ADHD.
Lol, I can imagine that Germany might be a bit tough for ADHDers. I love Germany and Germans but they do place a lot of importance on correctiness, punctuality and just doing things the right way. |

Re: Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
What Fuzzy12 said. I actually grew up with a German grandfather. He was a bit more accepting of my diagnosis but he never let me off the hook becasue of it.
That being said, I think German people are simply just Black and White, or have a Pass/Fail attitude towards things. 100% = pass. 99% = fail. I am with Fuzzy12 on loving Germany. Great food. Great beer. Great cars. Beautiful women! |

Re: Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
Visiting all scandinavian and nordic countries are on my bucket list. I'm glad they are so friendly.
Come to think of it, so is Germany. |

Re: Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
So funny, I got in so much trouble in Germany. I remember this older woman in a dining hall in a small Bavarian town just staring at me and saying "what is wrong with you?!" I hadn't been drinking, and I had no idea what I did to prompt such a question. Usually I have at least a clue as to what I did wrong. I also kept trying to talk to people in German, that never went well.

Re: Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
define 'ADD friendly'. alls i know about scandinavia is that theyre home to among the most badass civilizations to have lived: the Vikings, home to black and melodic death metal, and Sweden is home to the tall sexy blondes. i myself am Swedish

Re: Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
There was a survey in the US recently which did a blind questionnaire about wealth distribution.
People were asked about what they though the current wealth distribution in the US was and what the ideal would be......(the survey had a neat way of phrasing the questions to avoid bias toward the persons current socio-economic group) Turns out people had no real idea of the actual levels of wealth distribution in the US.... but overwhelmingly the results showed people thought the ideal was to be like Sweden. Yup... Scandinavia is a pretty good place....sailed around there and found it the most hospitable and friendly area I've ever visited. Left my much loved heirloom camera in a restaurant, thought it lost for ever, but although the restaurant proprietor did not know my name or address he remembered some facts about me and handed the camera to some customers of his sailing towards Scotland. It was eventually returned to me by a friend who'd been given it by a drunken Norwegian at a dance in the Northern Isles! In my experience, not only is Scandinavia ADD friendly, it's a place where being ADDery isn't regarded as a problem, just a place on the continuum of the human condition from which interesting possibilities arise. kilted |

Re: Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
I've never lived outside of Scandinavia, so I don't really have any way to compare add-friendliness.
However, getting diagnosed and treated for adult ADHD is a very long and frustrating process here, and the disorder is severly underdiagnosed in adults. |

Re: Is Scandinavia very ADD-friendly?
That's true for pretty much all of Europe.
