Depression and ADD

IT seems that like most people I battle depression form time to time (usually late fall and then again for a few months in the early spring) I've found that on Adderall my mood swings/irritability are lessened. is this the case for many of you out there?

I find that I'm able to tolerate people for much longer and thus foster more fruitful friendships.

Re: Depression and ADD

as usual sarah has shown us the way.

mostly in highschool and definitely gradeschool (at one point i was suicidal, albeit i was on strattera and fluoxetine which made me unhappy) i was depressed pretty regularly. ive only been majorly depressed a couple of times. it really did suck. but since senior year of highschool i havnt been depressed.

one coping mechanism ive found is listening to loud music. they have tried to break you...goddamnit i was typing lyircs again by accident...another way ive found for coping is probably the most effective way for me, albeit among the hardest things ive ever done in my life due to my naturally sarcastic wiseass disposition, is looking at the bright side of things, 'finding silver linings' as my mom puts it

Re: Depression and ADD

I was thinking about this too.
Turns out my psychiatrist was right about diagnosing me with ADHD and adjustment disorder mixed with anxiety and depressed mood.

Sometimes I feel like my ADHD and anxiety/depressed mood have a tug of war. The ADHD makes me hyper and want to just have fun, but the anxiety/depressed mood can inhibit my hyperactivity and make me lose my motivation to do anything.

Adderall has helped fix this problem, but I worry about getting dehydrated sometimes... I tend to worry about things o.O

Re: Depression and ADD

geez, guys I just get so glum sometimes. I have a tendency to worry and fidget. when 'm not in control I just get in such a tough spot that it's really hard to get out of. Working gout helps a lot, but a lot of things in my life contribute to me being depressed. I wish there was an off button some times

paying for rent, tuition, gas, utilities, dog health care, your own health care, and just regular old expenses PLUS being a full time student can be extremely over whelming.

yep- yeppy and yeppers
feeling overwhelmed by the same things you list. any one of them can sink my ship, but as an adult youre supposed to be able to handle all of them - ackkkkkk!

it's really getting my goat right now the way, well since being on stims., that it's really helped me depression but that it's now the anxiety from the stims that is my new major co-morbid. i'm being silly and fearful abt everything which compromises the gains i've made since my dx- throwing myself a pity party
