How often do you go to the doctor?

Just wondering how often do you go to your doctor? Doctor could be Family doctor, Nurologist, Psycatrist etc. just curious.

before I had to keep going to get med refills, almost never. I don't go unless I absolutely HAVE to, or for those annual lady-visits.

If I'm sick or having a migraine, I just tough it out. I can't afford any more bills.

I would say I go to my psychiatrist about once a month. Therapy with my therapist is now twice a week & I have a couple other dr.s I go to every 2 or 3 months.

Not including my mental health visits (psychiatrist and therapist), I go about once every 3 months to the gastroenterologist, who I am convinced at this point has absolutely no idea what's going on and I would be better off just finding a new one anyway. But aside from that, I try to avoid the doctor except for annual lady visits and cardiologist visits (to monitor a heart defect).

Including mental health, I see a therapist weekly/biweekly, depending on how stressful life is and/or how much my bipolar symptoms are acting up. I see the psychiatrist anywhere from biweekly to once every 3 months, again, depending on symptoms. Sometimes I'm stable for an extended period of time and don't need to keep up with them so frequently. Other times I need much closer care. It really just depends.

I see a therapist about every two weeks and my psychiatrist about every six to eight weeks. At the moment, I see my primary doc about once every other month and I also see a different specialist about once every other month. My last specialist was a neuropsych for testing. My next two stops will be an allergist and a GI doc (preparing for an endoscopy in order to investigate my reflux issues which I believe are being caused by allergies...).

In the past, I'd go years without seeing a doctor. It seems that, when it rains, it pours.

I actually 'see' my GP fairly often because of the kids checkups. He also sees my husband if his doctor is away or is too busy. He was seeing me a lot when I was going through the drug trials.

My psychiatrist has been doubling up the time every time i see him. When I first saw him I saw him 2 weeks later, then 4 weeks later, and next will be 2 months later. He keeps asking me when I would like to see him, I mean I don't know, when would you like to check in on me?? I'll make an appointment if something is wrong.

Other than my brain I'm in good health. Just minor stuff my GP takes care of.

Don't forget I'm in the great white north. Doctors bill the province. However if I decide to see a therapist, I would have to pay for that.
