Overwhelming Daytime Tiredness and ADD-PI

I have suffered from overwhelming daytime fatigue for many, many years. This past year I have been seeing a sleep specialist (medical doctor, top of his game). I performed very badly in the sleep latency tests, falling asleep within the first 2-5 minutes during each scheduled day time nap. I am not convinced that I have narcolepsy, I have never to my knowledge had the cataplexy that is most associated with it. I have had sleep paralysis in my mid teens to early twenties, as well as some auditory hallucinations on falling asleep, and of course the overwhelming daytime fatigue and broken nighttime sleep (I fall asleep fine, just can't stay asleep).

Also, I have an appointment with my sleep specialist next week. I'd like to bring some print outs of real articles about overwhelming daytime tiredness and Add-PI and Add-SCI so that I can discuss the issue with him.

Any recommendations, links, pointers to real scientific articles would be greatly appreciated.

I am undiagnosed ADD-pi, but it's my narcolepsy research that has led me here, and to the belief that I may have ADD-pi and/or SCI.

Other Questions:
1. How well can Overwhelming Tiredness be linked to ADD-PI?
2. Can someone have SCT and/or ADD-PI and still have issues with impulsivity (note: NOT hyperactivity)?

Re: Overwhelming Daytime Tiredness and ADD-PI

I don't know of any articles (big help I am, hu? lol) but I'd love to see what you find as I suffer from severe daytime sleepiness... granted, when I wake up an hour early it doesn't help... but that's not the point

How old are you? I'd highly suggest getting your testosterone levels checked, as low testosterone and ADHD-PI share many similarities. Additionally, I have read of many men who complain of low energy (among many other symptoms-that again are very similar to ADHD-PI), find they have low T, get treatment, and can't say enough about how amazing it is and how much it has changed their lives. Many people think of testosterone as a sex hormone that only effects you physically, but I read the other day of a man who went on testosterone replacement and said his typing speed doubled and read comprehension improved. Not to mention all the other mental benefits of increased mood, more confidence, more zest for life, eliminated depression, etc... The thing that interests me most is, the prime characterization of ADHD-PI / SCT seems to be either an under-stimulated brain or a lack of mental energy, causing us to be slow or sluggish in thought and mental processing, which testosterone seems to directly effect and consequently, bring benefit. If you do have Low testosterone and the symptoms that tag along with it, it truly can be a miracle drug. Additionally, as you will begin to see, low testosterone is an epidemic that is increasingly growing worse, which will become more evident as time goes on.

Thanks for the heads up. I looked up testosterone deficiency symptoms, and I don't seem to match any of the other symptoms.

Re: Overwhelming Daytime Tiredness and ADD-PI

I would encourage anyone that experiences daytime tiredness and snores at night to check for sleep apnea. Underwent a sleep study and now use a CPAP machine. Has made a significant difference. No more sneaking back to bed after the morning coffee. The dog isn't happy but otherwise it's all good.

Johnny reads this and as a Man of many blends of Johnny Walker around and your on the money here. As Johnny unfortunately feels like a women ( probably doesnt help with his female hips lol. ) by alas, a lack of testosterone levels.

Since mate your going to see a sleep specialist, you should recommend also checking your hormonal levels especially your melatoin (check spelling yo) levels since that is the baby that affects sleep pattern's attentivess and awareness.

Anyway gl with the test

Keep Sleep Walking

Johnny meant

Keep Walking

Re: Overwhelming Daytime Tiredness and ADD-PI

Chronic fatigue has plagued me ALL of my life and in turn, a lack of proper schedule/activity during the day has left me sleep disordered. However, Adderall has saved my life in the past six months since I began treatment for ADD. I take a low dose in conjunction with effexor XR. I always had the best health care and nothing else was wrong with me. Adderall has also dimished the anxiety and excessive worry that can result in too much REM sleep. Just some insight...
