Very nice. You're good with textures -- I especially like your trees.

Re: I have a few new works finished up

I've been busy , Mt. Lion and a Mule Deer . I started a Moose a couple days ago. The Moose is a Memorial painting for a friend who passed away this year at 54 and his nick name was Moose.

Please teach me how to see!!

I have such a hard time seeing true shapes and colors. Especially shapes in perspective and foreshortening. It's as if I can't stop my brain from over-interpreting what it sees. I want to just see. Do you have any pointers?

Pick an object, set it in front of you, now look at the object and don't look at the paper and draw what you see. It's called Blind Contour drawing. It will help train your eye / hand coordination.

Starting to get into some detail landscape now..

Re: I have a few new works finished up

Looks incredible!!!

I did blind contour drawing in art school... well my brother taught me first when I was 14. I drew in ways I had no idea I could. I stopped doing it, though! I just didn't know that blind contour drawing was the best way to see shapes. I even tried making blurry glasses that turned everything into blobs, I used grids. But as an art student I was just about the worst illustrator around (I majored in Fine Art Sculpture but was more conceptual.) I still am.

Thanks!! I'll go back to that. I wonder if I can do it with a photo.

Re: I have a few new works finished up

I would start with smaller objects. Something you can set on a pedestal on the table a few feet away and draw.

Re: I have a few new works finished up

Bell thanks, it's not patience it's what's called Hyper Focusing. I would lose my mind it I had to do these with out the help of being ADHD. I loss track of time when I paint. Some days I will paint 8-10 hours and not realize it. I find I do better when I am not taking the med's also. I really have to like what I'm painting also or I lose interest fast.
