boosting Dopamine - good and not so good
Saw this study from Vanderbilt University. Seems to suggest that dopamine can work against motivation for some people. If it pans out long term, might be some implications for drug therapies.

Re: boosting Dopamine - good and not so good
It may explain why so many people only fell effect on stims that are stronger on norepinephrine than on dopamine.

Re: boosting Dopamine - good and not so good
This study was conducted with an only NT (neuro-typical) cohort. Any extrapolation to ADHD is unproven based on the parameters of the study.

How can you yawn when it includes such an awesome picture?!?!
Besides, it IS pertinent to anyone who is misdiagnosed as ADHD but in fact is NT and taking a dopamine enhancing medication... no? ![]() |

Re: boosting Dopamine - good and not so good
Isn't 25 volunteers below the threshold for studies being statistically significant?

Re: boosting Dopamine - good and not so good
Plus, it's also kind of established knowledge that dopamine works this way, it was just looking at it from a slightly different angle.

Neuroskeptic usually dissects a lot of these studies. I don't see that he hit on this one, but here's what he's got so far on dopamine.
