What's your morning routine?

What are your morning routines?
I've been curious about this for quit some time. I room with an NT and her routine differs greatly compared to mine. (Although, I'm not sure if you can count mine as much of a routine..)

Mine generally involves waking up to my 4 alarms set the night before, yet still managing to press "snooze" on each of them and continue sleeping. Then, I finally wake up around 15 minutes until I have to go to class, rush to get ready, throw some protein bars in my backpack(unless I forget), and RUUUUN and I mean RUNNNNN to my morning class!

On the days I'm off class, I tend to sleep in 'til my heart's delight, wakeup slowly and get ready according to my decided pace. (Usually quite slow. But only about 1/4 of my time getting ready is ACTUALLY "getting ready" for the day. The rest is spent daydreaming, thinking up ideas, computer, being distracted...yeah.) Sound familiar to anyone else?

Are you all more structured? How do your mornings go for ya?

Re: What's your morning routine?

I press snooze on my six alarms (each set a random time apart because I feel like I'll get too comfortable if they're all set five or ten minutes apart) a few times each. If I'm getting up early for work, I'm probably almost out of time when I finally get up. Then I have to run to the bathroom, change, get ready, and run out the door.

I'm usually a little better at waking up early enough to actually have a morning routine before class. I get up, go to the bathroom, feed my turtle, feed my cat, make coffee for my boyfriend, make breakfast (if I have the time,) then take my pills and leave a few minutes early. I don't like being rushed when I have to go to school. Work's a little different, I can't forget anything that I desperately need to remember like I can for school (such as homework or a paper.)

My cat has a morning routine too. She wakes up with me, follows me to the bathroom and sits on the sink, meowing every time she catches my eye in the mirror. Then she follows me into the room where the turtle is and waits patiently while I feed him (meowing the whole time). Then she follows me into my kitchen where I clean her bowl and get her food (meowing the whole time). Then she eats two bites and attacks my shoe laces when I try to put my shoes on...meowing the whole time. She's very vocal. I can't imagine my morning routine without her chatter.

Re: What's your morning routine?

wake up late, fall out of bed, go to the bathroom simultaneously play on my phone fiddle with stuff in my surroundings...the blood pressure machine is number one distraction at the minute, make tea or coffee, take meds, fool around some more..at this stage im usually awake enough to be buzzing round the house like a blue arsed fly, go for a cig, make a mess of my room trying to find clothes, stay in pajamas for another 2 hours, then change clothes eventually...realise its 1pm and i havent eaten yet...sit down to eat, half finish meal...more **** to fiddle with and be ditracted by...and voila...its time to leave the house...not before losing my phone, purse and forgetting weather appropriate clothing (umbrell, coat, warm clothes etc etc)

Re: What's your morning routine?

I wanted to post something like this the other day and forgot, so thanks!

My alarm starts going off at 430am, but I generally snooze until 5am. I get directly into the shower (cannot stand starting the day off w/o a shower). I always have to pick out my clothes the night before, as my h is sleeping at that time, as he should be and I can't turn on the light to find my stuff. Then depending on how much time I have left: blow dry hair, style hair, makeup.....most days it I can only eek out a blow dry, hehe. Then I go and grab my lunch (that I hopefully packed up the night before) out of the fridge and leave. There is zero time for farting around. Although that would be lovely. Being at work at 6am is ridiculums for me. But I get out early, so I try not to complain.

Re: What's your morning routine?

Haha you guys are all just like me LOL! I have the same morning routine with all the snoozing, I always seem to find I have time to snooze once more; and once more, and once more... I started a thread about this not too long ago and someone on the forum suggested I set an alarm just to take my meds before the real wake up alarm so that when I have to get out of bed the meds are starting to kick in and I won't waste as much time. I tried and I can say it's a very ADHD-friendly thing to do! That way you are not late and you don't forget your stuff! The only downside to this is that since the meds are taken earlier, they also wear off earlier

Re: What's your morning routine?

My mornings are pretty structured, but only because I have critters tripping me and trying to climb my legs for their breakfast.

My mornings consist of (and this is only on work days):
-getting up at 530am
-trying to wake up til around 545am
-getting up, brushing my teeth, getting dressed, and turning on the straight iron around 6am
-letting the dogs out, feeding the cats, feeding the dogs, scooping the litter, washing my hands, making coffee all til around 615am
-go fix hair while DH gets up finally
-eat breakfast around 620am or 630am & take meds
-play a video game til 650am
-get my crap together and leave at 7am

Days off.... are just kinda 'whatever' days, which I thoroughly enjoy

Re: What's your morning routine?

But seriously, even something as simple as brushing my teeth or taking a shower for me is spur of the moment; nothing is routine. That's not to say that I have any hygienic problem... it's just, trying to be presentable is just another burden on my long list of things that make me late.

Re: What's your morning routine?

So, I have three alarm clocks and my phone with another four alarms set.
I can't go to bed without checking that they are all set over the course of about an hour, starting at 9:30 am. (The last one is 'OH F* I need to jump into my clothes and run')

Turn off the first to alarms plus two phone alarms without being aware of it.
Then, groggy half-asleep, decide whether to take a shower or sleep some more.
Shower: Ten minutes. Rush over to room to turn off alarm that started ringing while I was in the shower. Lie down in bed. Sleep ten more minutes.
Otherwise, sleep twenty more minutes.
Take thyroid hormone supplement. Jump into clothes. Dry hair if necessary. Turn on computer and download podcast, synch ipod. Notice clothes are dirty-ish, search cleaner ones. Search textbooks, wallet, keys. Shut down computer, check time. Curse because I'm too late to walk and get the earlier tram. Depending on how late it is, take bike or not.
