Please give incite on this i need it!
I just turned 16, and got diagnosed recently with ADHD (inatentive type). I have been on Vyvanse 30mg 1/per day. I have been on vyvanse for 4 days and it has helped me tremendously! But, I have been reading posts, and watching videos of adderall users, and other ADHD medications, and almost all of them said it has helped in some ways, but it seems to become a dependency. And, I dont want that. I hate the thought of this drug changing me even when im not on it. I love that it helps me in school and all of that, but I dont want to be dependent on it. Can anyone tell me if this is true? I need these meds, but is it really worth all of the bad things it brings after the positive effects wear off? Thanks for any help!

Re: Please give incite on this i need it!
There is a lot of misinformation out there about medication. If you need glases to see you are dependent. Insulin for diabetes you are dependent. Vyvanse for adhd you are dependent. Addiction and dependence are not one and the same.

Chances are the bad things were always there, they just seem more
noticable now in comparison when the meds are working. Studies have been done that indicate that rather than causing any long- term harm, the meds actually help the under-developed parts of the brain that are causing the problems to become more fully developed.

Do not worry though i guarantee that you will be physically dependent on vyvanse. you will notice the body pain when you quit it. It lasts 2 days only so stay tough.

Re: Please give incite on this i need it!
Withdrawal from stimulants is completely physiological, and is not dangerous or severely uncomfortable like w/ds from a lot of other classes of drugs. Overtime you will depend on it to function, but chances are you were having a hard time functioning without it anyway. You will not get sick without it, like morphine or alcohol. I once took Adderall everyday for 6 months and quit cold turkey. I basically slept for 3 days and then ate a lot of food for another few days. That was it.
