Today is my 5th day and I'm just feeling good....

I remebered where I had set down my address book !! Big deal for me, my address book is my life......

Today as I said "Now where's my address book" I saw it in my mind on the coffee table in the other room and it was there ! Isn't that cool?

The first couple days I was talking kinda fast and was edgy.I snapped (more like yelled) a few time at my kids and was making them cry....

My brain is quiet today...

I've found my energy again.....

I'm not feeling bored and snacking.....

I'm just this min. realizing I'm not fidgeting while at the computer. Wow ! And I don't hear any songs playing in my head..lol...

Are you taking Dex. or just looking into how it works for people?

I took my first tablet this morning, about 20 minutes ago, so fingers crossed.
I have looked at the list of possible side effects with it which are very similar to the side effects associated with Ritalin. I was alarmed as one side effect was "rises in blood pressure (with possible bleeding into the brain)" - this is very disturbing indeed, though very rare I hope.

I just wondered if anyone suffered from any side effects with Dexedrine, cos I have read that the most common are hyperactivity and aggression.

Did you notice a change straight away with this medication - I ask this because a lot of people with ADD/ADHD say they noticed a difference/improvement almost straight away when they started taking there medication, but when I was trialling Ritalin I had no noticeable improvements.

I've been told that Dex. is basical Ritalin..... Not sure how that works..... I have taken Ritalin and yes I noticed a change right away ! It was amazing, all the thoughts in my brain just stopped. I never had any side effects with Ritalin, I liked Ritalin.... Long story why I stopped talking it..........

The Dex. wasn't like this, it seemed to take a few days. I'm taking 5 mg. twice a day.........

Don't get disapointed, give it time, would be my advice....

let us know how it's going ok? Because I'm also new to the med. I'd like to hear how it's working for you.........

Dex is the subsidised stimulant where i live. I've been on it for 3 years, my daughter has been on it for 2 years and my son has been on it for 1 year.

This is a really good site

I started off on 20mg a day and then increased it to 30mg.

Cagrl: Can you do things now that you couldn't do before? I don't know if I necessarily feel different (it's been so long that I can't remember) but I can concentrate to read and I can write better and I can think better on it. I still act hyper and silly but I can get in under control a lot better when I'm reminded to.

I have seen that Dexadrine works for some, but leaves others feeling bad, however it is usually dose dependent.

If you are feeling anxious all the time and have a lot of anxiety, is it possible that you were put on too high of a dose? What were you taking? How many times per day? Too much would definitly cause anxiety. The dose for Dexadrine (generic for adderall) needs to be adjusted on an individual basis.

If your anxiety is out of control, has your doctor though of putting you on a mild dose of klonapin? Klonapin is similar to valium, although it lasts much longer and often takes just the "edge" off of anxieity. Every now and again, if I am expeiencing anxiety, I take .25 or .5 mg of klonapin to offset the "edge," and then find that I am feeling relaxed and focused.

I have taking Adderall for almost 4 years and have had little side affects (occasional sweating and insomnia), but for the most part I am more attentive, alert and clear-thinking.

Unless you have high blood pressure or an enlargement of the prostate gland, you should not be bothered by side affects.

Other meds, such as Ritalin, did nothing for me though. The practically poot me to sleep.

Hope this helps!

Effexor and dex are a good combo. Coz effexor is an SNRI in helps the way the dex works.

I got sick just after starting dex (soar throat and sinus problems) which went away after skipping 2 days of the med, so it may or may not be related to the medication.

As far as other side effects I noticed being slightly emotionally sensitive for a while when the med was wearing off. Other than that no negative side effects.

I could think clearly, I was able to sit and complete ONE project at a time!!!! I also felt more stable. I didn't get irritated or angry and had a generally calm and laid back feeling. I did not "feel" this med when it started working the way I felt ritalin. It ALLOWED my mind to quiet down when I wanted it to, while the ritalin FORCED my mind to be quiet. So on dex I can still be creative and have fun, I am still able to experience normal feelings. On ritalin I was able to concentrate but it felt very forced. I could not be creative, and even when I wanted to have fun my mind wouldn't seem to allow it.

Meds I've been on are strattera, ritalin (and ritalin products - concerta, metadate CD) and dexedrine. Dexedrine has been the best by far.

I just started on 15 mg Dexedrine (in 5 mg tablets) twice a day on Monday from 20 mg of Ritalin 2-3 times a day..its been positive so far.
Crazy Cutie, I got the sore throat too, I think it might have been from being thirsty all the time though, one of the side effects of Dex.
Ritalin made me feel jittery and didn't last as long as Dexedrine does. I also got a bad rebound effect in the evening with the Ritalin, I'd get extra-hyper and had trouble getting to sleep. I find with the Dexedrine I get tired when I should, but since I've started it I've been waking up in the middle of the night off and on, but I can usually fall right back asleep.
I definitely feel more like myself on Dex, and I've noticed it's helped with my anxiety, I don't have the anxiety surges I used to get when I'd think of something completley random, its like they disappear as soon as they start--anyone else whose been on Dex found this? I guess its different for everyone.
