Concerta vs. Ritalin

I was started on straterra and then switched to ritalin which I really liked and seemed to help the best, but just did not last long enought for me. My doc is thinking about switching me to Concerta. What is the differance between that and Ritalin. Does anyone know?? I am usually going for about 12-18hrs a day so need something that would last.

Any info before I go back would be really helpful.

Its pretty much the same substance, but a longer lasting release mech. Designed to last 12 hours, about half of that for me, but it works well for some. If it doesnt last long enough, most Dr.'s will put you on it twice a day.

That's good to know. I just started on Concerta and it's working really well for me, but not as long as I'd like -- definately not 12 hours, more like 8 or less. I was wondering if it was possible to take it twice a day. I'll ask my doctor next visit.
