Question How to withdraw from addrall

My daughter ( 16 years old)has been on this for about 6 months, with little to no improvement.

Now I want her off of it. she is taking 20 mg in the morning.

I was thinking start with 10 in the morning for two weeks and then 5 mg for two weeks then off of it.

Any thought son this?

I just spoke with the nurse, and she said:

I can cut her off the meds straight off.
Because she is not taking a large dose (20 mg) in the first place, but also because of the drug it self, (I think she said the type of salts it is) it was not necessary to slowly diminish the dosages, over a period of time.

Is this right?

I am still waiting for the letter from the doctor himself, to confirm this.

Will post what he said.

Re: How to withdraw from addrall

yeow! I know this is a few months past the initial post but please if you haven't do NOT just abruptly have your daughter stop takeing the adderall! It can have medical implications the nurse may not have told you of. When your daughter was diagnosed was it a MD or a psychiatrist who diagnosed it. my doctor refered me to a psychiatrist to make the diagnosis as well as a second opinion. Because Adderall is afterall a stimulant drug (I was on 30mg of the XR). No my psychiatrist is tapering me off of the 30mg by doing this.

5mg 3 times a day for 2 days

5 mg 2 times a day for 2 days

5mg in the morning last day

then the next day start Straterra.
