Compulsive Posting

Do you HAVE to check the forum every day or do you just check it occasionally.

I'm on the borderline between have to and want to. I really, really want to. I've been on other forums for years, and if I go more than a couple of days without checking up on the messages I (might) have gotten, it really starts to bug me.

Few times a day, I admit it....what can I say? I can think of worse things to be addicted to....I sorta glommed onto this thing while I was in school.....And now that I've made some friends here, I want to know how they're doing....

When I'm focused on the board I HAVE to check it constantly.

When I'm focused on something else I forget the board (or any other boards) exists and don't check back until it pops back into my mind.

I'm the same as innatentive.

When focused, yes, when not focused no.

Sleepz.

I have to say I *like* checking for messages and seeing what people wrote, its like being with your "kind" of people. I feel like I belong. Do I make sense?

If anyone is "have to" then I am, otherwise I wouldn't be here now (especially as I now have internet access at home again, but I'm at work now...). But I think I am essentially the same as InattentiveType and sleepzalot: my "focus" is slipping a bit (after a couple of weeks here), so I'll probably get out of the (compulsive) habit.

I suppose you must be focussed at the moment then, sleepzalot, considering the time it is where you are (assuming you're at home and given that you just posted, half an hour ago)!

Should sleepzalot really be known as sleepzlate!?

I like to check daily, but the only web access I have is at work, so I usually have a lot of catching up to do on Mondays.

Sometimes I become overwhelmed by the Forums...like Keppig said, I feel like I "belong" here and I've finally found a bunch of "my peeps"...but there are so many threads that I want to read and respond to...I can get overwhelmed and decide to procrastinate--"I'll read them later...." If I don't get that overwhelmed feeling, I tend to mull over a thread and my potential response for a while, and then go back and post...which I guess would make me a compulsive visitor to the Forums....? Am I even on topic anymore?

A nice distinction, sir!

I get annoyed with myself for wanting to contribute to various discussions, not doing so because I should be doing something else, but then nevertheless spending an hour (or several, possibly in repeated 10-20 minute chunks) reading. I usually end up posting something 'unimportant' (like the colour of my hair) because it doesn't 'count'. Absolutely daft!
