Acclimate?

Im trying to sort something out.

I was self-medicating (well, trying to) with coffee before I started taking Concerta. Lots of coffee. Before the 27s I was on 18s but still drinking coffee. On 18s I was running 4-6 miles a day but when I moved up to 27s I felt spaced out and tired. I couldnt run more than two miles. I did not like the way I reacted to caffeine and stopped almost cold turkey the second day I was on the 27s. This fatigue seems to be decreasing as the days go by. I was back up to 6 miles yesterday.

Do you need to give Concerta a week or so for your body to get used to it? Im off caffeine as much as you can be, I drank decaf with breakfast this morning. I dont get any other than what you get in Cola or Chocolate which is so much less than what I used to get. Was I getting used to the higher dose of Concerta, or withdrawing from caffeine, or both? I absolutely sparkled today. I have never felt this good. All the excercise makes me glow and the Concerta makes me relaxed and comfortable with people. Where did all this charisma come from? Im so happy.

I am taking this med now, and there was definitely an adjustment period. The first couple days, I had minor side effects, like appetite suppression, but it all went away quickly. The first time I took it, I felt a sense of calm within about an hour. Now, I don't really notice it, I just notice myself doing stuff differently. It's very subtle. I don't know if that answers your question or not, but that's been my experience. :-)

Yes, a sense of calm and I find social interaction to be quite enjoyable vs. stressful. Overall my stress tolerance is way better. I dont feel spaced out anymore this week and I would say that I have a normal appetite now whereas I overate. My mind was a storm before, its much more peaceful in here now. Honestly I act the way I have always wanted to act.

Titan,

Your experience sounds precisely the same as mine. I wish I had found this drug earlier.

I was getting really bad and spacey. I went from having a job for 8 years, next one for 5, then starting last year I couldn't keep one for more than 3 or 4 months.

I forgot every single holiday so far this year (wife LOVES that). She is the most patient person I have ever met but my confusion and memory loss drove her to tears.

I was started on 36 last week, now 54. The change was subtle but immediate. I am nice to people, my brain is quiet, I can remember stuff and I am getting a lot of work done.

I don't feel speedy or nervous, which is unexpected. I have been eating a LOT less which isn't necessarily bad LOL.

Your post just struck me because it is exactly what I have felt.

I have just started on 32mg and hope that this will bring carm into my life as it has done for you. My girlfriend is absolutely wonderful in this respect. She is very understanding and never over does it when she is frustrated with me. She makes life easier for me which in itself is motivation to try harder.

There was definately an adjustment period for me of about a week with the meds when the dose was raised. Getting off the caffeine was a good idea -- it's suppose to make the Concerta less effective from what I've read.

Glad it's working so well for you!

I started last week and doing well so far. I am still in an adjustment period. I meet with my psych to review the dosing. Today I took 3x18 and felt a little amped. I will go one more day on this dose and then go to 2x18 and compare. I'm not noticing a big difference between 2 and 3 pills a day...I think that the 3 is better though.

My mood has been good, I've been enjoying talking and interacting more with people. I've been getting more done than usual although still spacing out from time to time. Overall it's been better. I have some proverbial ADD piles of crap on my desk I will be working on this weekend. We'll see how this helps. I take mine at 7am ish and I feel it within an hour and it starts wearing off around 7pm at night...I get a good 12 hours out of it.
