Talking ADHD Songs

I know some songs that remind me of ADHD.
Here is one (Warning, I have 5 on my mind) Do you have
any?

HYPERACTIVE – Thomas Dolby

At the tender age of three
I was hooked to a machine
Just to keep my mouth from spouting junk
Must have took me for a fool
When they chucked me out of school
'Cause the teacher knew I had the funk
But tonight I'm on the edge -
Better shut me in the fridge
'Cause I'm burning up (I'm burning up)
With the vision in my brain
And the dirty rhythm in my blood

They are messing with my heart
And they're messing with my heart
And they're messing with my heart
Won't stop messing with me
Ripping me apart !

Hyperactive: when I'm small
Hyperactive: now I'm grown
Hyperactive: and the night is young
And in a minute I'll blow

Semaphore out on the floor
Messages from outer space
Deep heat for the feet
And the rhythm of your heartbeat
'Cause the music of the street
It isn't any rapattack
It isn't any rapattack

I can reach into your homes
Like an itch in your headphones
You can't turn it up
I'm the shape in your back room
I'm the breather on the phone
And I'm burning up
But there's one thing I must say
Before they lock me up again -
You'd be safer at the back
When I'm having an attack!

Hyperactive: when I'm small
Hyperactive: now I'm tall
Hyperactive: as the day is long
Hyperactive: in my bones
Hyperactive: in your phones
Hyperactive: and the night is young
Hyperactive : when I'm small
Hyperactive: now I'm grown
Hyperactivfe: 'til I'm dead and gone

Stand up : hyperactivate!
Get up: hyperactivate!
Wise up: hyperactivate!
London: hyperactivate!

Smile Ok here's another...

Senses Working Overtime – XTC

Hey, hey,
The clouds are whey.
There’s straw for the donkeys,
And the innocents can all sleep safely,
All sleep safely.

My, my,
Sun is pie.
There’s fodder for the cannons,
And the guilty ones can all sleep safely,
All sleep safely.

And all the world is football-shaped
It’s just for me to kick in space
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste
And I’ve got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in.
I’ve got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to taste the difference
’tween a lemon and a lime
Pain and the pleasure
And the church bells softly chime.

Hey hey,
Night fights day.
There’s food for the thinkers,
And the innocents can all live slowly,
All live slowly.
My, my,
The sky will cry
Jewels for the thirsty,
And the guilty one’s can all die slowly ,
All die slowly.

And all the world is biscuit-shaped,
It’s just for me to feed my face,
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste,
And I’ve got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in.
I’ve got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to taste the difference,
’tween a lemon and a lime,
Pain and the pleasure,
And the church bells softly chime,

And birds might fall from black skies,
And bullies might give you black eyes,
But to me it’s very, very beautiful ¡¦
(england’s glory!)
Beautiful ¡¦
(a striking beauty!)

And all the world is football-shaped,
It’s just for me to kick in space,
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste,
And I’ve got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in
I’ve got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to tell the difference
’tween the goods and grime
Turds and treasure
And there’s one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in
I’ve got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to taste the difference
’tween a lemon and a lime
Pain and the pleasure,
And the church bells softly chime.

Ok... one more...

Bouncing Around The Room- phish

The woman was a dream I had
Though rather hard to keep
for when my eyes were watching hers
They closed,
And I was still asleep.

For when my hand was holding hers
She whispered words and I awoke
And faintly bouncing around the room
The echo of whomever spoke
I awoke and faintly bouncing round the room
the echo of whomever spoke.

The place I saw was far beneath
The surface of the sea
My sight was poor
But I was sure
The sirens sang their songs for me
They dance above me as I sink
I see them through a crystal haze
And hear them bouncing round the room
the never ending coral maze

That time and once again I'm bouncing around the room

-Ok, Can anyone think of others??

Foo Fighters "This is a call"

This Is A Call
visiting is pretty
visiting is good
seems that all they ever wanted was a brother
this can be a secret
we can keep it good
even all the ever wanting had a problem

this is a call to all my
past resignations
this is a call to all

fingernails are pretty
fingernails are good
seems that all they ever wanted was a marking

them balloons are pretty big
and say they should
ever fall to ground
call the magic marker

this is a call to all my
past resignations
this is a call to all
this is a call to all my
past resignatoins
it's been too long

minicyn is pretty
minicyn is good
seems that all the cysts and mollusks tend to barter

ritalin is easy
ritalin is good
even all the ones that watered down the daughter

This is one is an adhd song, emphasis on the H! Read this one quickly!

It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) by REM
(Lyrics source: One of Stipe's concert lyric sheets)

That’s great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, don’t misserve your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn’t coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it’ll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
light, feeling pretty psyched.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o’clock - TV hour. Don’t get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn,
return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning,
blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle,
light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh,
this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament,
a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
and I decline.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mountains sit in a line.
Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! You symbiotic, patriotic,
slam, but neck, right? Right.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...

(It’s time I had some time alone)

OK -- stalled thread....

A few I can think of off hand (may be dating myself, but....)

"The Great Curve" by TalkingHeads

"King of the World" by Steely Dan

"Bodisattva" by Steely Dan

The music is hyper, the words fairly irrelevant....

Ken (for now)

Sort of reminds me of hyperactivity, Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire"...

On the subject of Hyperfocusing, specifically on a desired partner, two good songs are "#1 Crush" by Garbage and Obsession by Animotion. (Also two of my favourite songs).

Okay Girls, this one is for you

Juanita by Shania Twain

She is the restless river
running through my veins
She rides without the reins-
her name's Juanita
She lives in the heart of every
woman in the world
Within the reach of every girl
who wants to meet her

(She's gonna be ridin' through"
Her name's Juanita
(She's gonna be ridin' free) She's ridin' free
(She's gonna be inside of you, gonna be
inside of me) She's inside of you
and inside of me, yeah

Chorus
Oh, go with her-flow with her
Dream with her-scream with her
Let her take over, or just get to know her
Be everything you can be
If you can find her and free her
Juanita will unchain your heart

When someone tries to take
away the freedom of your choice
To take away your voice-
that's when you need her
She's there if you dare to give
your broken wings a try
C'mon and take a leap and fly,
and you can be her

(She's gonna be ridin' through) Oh, Juanita
(She's gonna be ridin' free) Ridin' free
(She's gonna be part of you, gonna be a
part of me) She's a part of you and a part of me, yeah

Oh, go with her-flow with her
Dream with her-scream with her
Let her take over, or just get to know her
Be everything you can be

Love it, Bunny!!!

Here's another song...

FRIDAY I'M IN LOVE - THE CURE

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday i don't care about you
It's friday i'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's friday i'm in love

Saturday wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitate...

I don't care if Monday's black
Tuesday Wednesday heart attack
Thursday never looking back
It's Friday i'm in love

Monday you can hold your head
Tuesday Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday watch the walls instead
It's Friday i'm in love

Saturday wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitate...

Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's friday
I'm in love

For some reason the Offspring are coming to mind, many songs being similar topics or comorbid condition songs, maybe...

Self Esteem
She's Got Issues
The Kids Aren't All Right

Not perfect matches though... I am very disappointed for some reason that I don't have an automatic answer to this thread, other than "Hyperactive" above, which I always loved as a kid...

Part of the chorus from Great Big Sea's "Boston & St. John's":

I'm a rover and I'm bound to sail away,
I'm a rover. Can you love me anyway?

Smile Here's another

Like The Weather - Ten thousand Maniacs

The color of the sky as far as I can see is coal grey.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again.
With a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my lips as if I might cry.

Well by the force of will my lungs are filled and so I breathe.
Lately it seems this big bed is where I never leave.
Shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
Quiver in my voice as I cry,

";What a cold and rainy day. Where on earth is the sun hid away.";

I hear the sound of a noon bell chime.
Now I'm far behind.
You've put in 'bout half a day
while here I lie
with a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my lip as if I might cry,

";What a cold and rainy day. Where on earth is the sun hid away?";

Do I need someone here to scold me
or do I need someone who'll grab and pull me out of this four poster dull torpor pulling downward.
For it is such a long time since my better days.
I say my prayers nightly this will pass away.

The color of the sky is grey as I can see through the blinds.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again
with a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my voice as I cry,

";What a cold and rainy day. Where on earth is the sun hid away?";
I shiver, quiver, and try to wake.

This song is totally me. Maybe some of you ADD girls can relate.

-Diane

Grey Street
Dave Matthews Band

Oh look at how she listens
She says nothing of what she thinks
She just goes stumbling through her memories
Staring out on to Grey Street

She thinks, “Hey,
How did I come to this?
I dream myself a thousand times around the world,
But I can’t get out of this place”

There’s an emptiness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
But all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart

How she wishes it was different
She prays to God most every night
And though she swears it doesn’t listen
There’s still a hope in her it might

She says, “I pray
But they fall on deaf ears,
Am I supposed to take it on myself?
To get out of this place”

There’s loneliness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now
It feels like cold blue ice in her heart
When all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart

There’s a stranger speaks outside her door
Says take what you can from your dreams
Make them as real as anything
It’d take the work out of the courage

But she says, “Please
There’s a crazy man that’s creeping outside my door,
I live on the corner of Grey Street and the end of the world”

There’s an emptiness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now
It’s more like cold blue ice in her heart
She feels like kicking out all the windows
And setting fire to this life
She could change everything about her using colors bold and bright
But all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart
It breaks her heart
To grey

Stone Temple Pilots - "Army Ants" from Purple album

you don't look but you kick me
you can't feel but you hit me
you can't live with the way I pray

why we all have to look this way
I gotta heart, I got blood, feel pain

time, time is not on my side
cause the way I am
gotta gotta now gotta find the reason why
a woman ain't a man

you don't look but you kick me
you can't feel but you hit me
you can't deal with the way I pray

why do you all have to think this way
I gotta heart, I got blood, feel pain

fall in those single file lines
like army ants
yeah, fall on into those single file lines
and complete the plan
