Red face Could wellbutrin be turning me stupid?

I'm on day 9 of wellbutrin. started with 150mg SR for a week and am now on 150XL. I've been treated on and off for depression over the years and never had much success so dr thought we'd try wellbutrin. BF is convinced I have ADD but dr doesn't think so.

During the past week I've done quite a few things that were incredibly stupid that I've never done before.
  • Acting weird in middle of the night-BF comes to bed and I'm all paranoid asking 'what are you doing?' normally I just mumble but this was talking. Of course I don't remember.
  • was on the new mower and hit the gas instead of the brake shooting me backwards almost over the river bank
  • almost rear ended a car in town the other day (spotless driving record)
  • turned the water on in the tub and forgot about it (till daugther saw it running out of the bathroom)
  • got up last night and took a leak at the end of the bed on the carpet (just squatted and went for it like I was camping). don't remember other than BF asking "What are you doing!?!" and I don't know what I was thinking. and of course I'm catching heck today
I've never been the brightest person , and have always talked in my sleep and mumbled when BF came to bed. There are some factors that could have led to this (took a Xanax the night I was paranoid, last night had a few beers) but I've just done too many stupid things for me to think it's just me being me. Could the Wellbutrin be affecting my judgement or something? I don't feel anything (such as dopiness, insomia, rage, etc) and or any real improvement yet. Or is it just a coincidence that it has all happened this past week? I'm so embarrassed!

thanks-

Mixing chemistry always seems to me to be rolling the dice a bit. What did your doctor say about it. Does he/she know all the details?

Exercise has helped my depression a lot. It's helped a good number of other things too. Just a thought.
Please keep us posted.

Talk to your doctor right away. Welbutrin can cause psycosis in some people, so it is NOT a trivial thing.

I agree, any mental status changes of this sort should definitely be reported to the doc. Also, my doc told me not to drink too much on Wellbutrin because it increases risks of seizures. It never was a problem for me because I get drunk maybe once every 3 months or something, but since you are just starting the med, maybe it's doing something wierd to you?

Just tell your doctor what's going on. That's what they're there for, and I'm sure they've heard it all, your not alone in what's going on. -- jazzper

thanks! While I think 'psychosis' is a tad extreme... as I don't 'feel' it (other than doing the stupid things mentioned). The other thing I noticed is when I do my workouts I can't seem to keep up. Been doing these workouts for 3 months with no problem and now it just seems they're going so fast! I actually tripped and fell (very hard) last week while doing one of my step workouts. but I feel 'normal' meaning no side effects doing my normal actvities and BF hasn't noticed anything different. weird.

I go back next week. and it's not a common thing for me to drink that much. I'll be sure to talk to her about it! thanks! I'm well aware of the psycho effect. Had that problem on Zoloft years ago. the ones that affect serotonin mess me up big time . hoping wellbutrin doesn't do the same!

Thanks!
