Problems Sleeping?

I have been taking welbutrin sr 150 mgs for around 16 days now. Besidesa little more energy I get nothing from the med. Also its keeping me awake at night. I want to give it a chance but not sleeping on top of the stress that I already expierience is too frickin much. Has anyone else had sleep loss with this med and does it really take a month for it to kick in?

I've been taking it for about the same time as you.
Are you taking XL?
I haven't had any trouble sleeping. Not even when I switched from 150mg to 300mg a few days ago.
I still can sleep fine...well, actually, now that I say this I realize that last night I couldn't sleep until 1AM.
I thought it was just too much caffeine but I was just wired more than caffeine would do for me.

Well, everything is NOT going to be OK unless you learn to handle whatever comes your way.

Haniac,
What time of the day are you taking the Wellbutrin SR?

I take it twice at 6:30 am and at 4:00 pm. The worst part is my doc doesnt want to prescribe any stimulants because of my past drug use. I believe the welbutrin raises your dopamine level permantly while a stimulant would only raise it while I take it. I think. Its only been three months since I found out about the add and Im still trying to figure it all out.

You might benefit from switching to Wellbutrin XL, once a day in the morning. I had some insomnia from it at 150 mg when I took it, but it went away after a couple weeks.

I had severe insomnia with WB that didn't seem to improve. I took 150mg of the SR early in the morning and would get two hours of sleep at night. After two weeks of that, I was a complete basket case, but a very impulsive, explosive basket case.

I stopped taking it after talking with my doc. My doc switched me to an SSRI and Ritalin, and that worked much better. Now I take Adderall a couple of times a day and sleep very well.

Oh, and I had drug problems in the past. But no real problems with the Rit. and Adderall.

Haniac, your dosing schedule sounds good. Perhaps you just need more time to adjust to the Wellbutrin?

I was taking both Wellbutrin and Strattera for over a month. I didn't get a good nights sleep the entire month. I stopped taking the Wellbutrin as of today.

Same here. I think the addiction/abuse potential of stimulant ADD meds is highly overblown by most Docs. The potential is there but in most cases I don't think it's enough of a reason not to consider the stimulants.

I too had problems sleeping on 150 at first, but I have take a Excedrin PM at night and I now sleep all night long. I would let your doctor know about the sleeping problems.
