Re: The what's bothering you RIGHT NOW thread Part IV

I just found out that pretty much no medical aids cover ADHD as a chronic disease (i.e. coverage of meds and other treatment without draining the fund). Apparently its "non-life threatening" and thus not considered.

TBH, it was pretty near life threatening for me pretty frequently
From frequently risking my livelihood to serious risk of car accidents etc

Re: The what's bothering you RIGHT NOW thread Part IV

Hasn't Ebony been through enough? Can she have some time where she's not got any medical conditions wrong with her? Why did her health have to start sliding downhill so soon after she came to me? The rescue really fought to save her life, would she have been better off if they'd let her go so she wasn't having to go through all this? Would it have been kinder to her for her to have not been given a chance rather than go through so much treatment during her life?

I am not being selfish here, I am thinking of Ebony's welfare not my own welfare.

Re: The what's bothering you RIGHT NOW thread Part IV

Bah, that really sucks about the crap coverage Sighs

(((((((Ducks)))))))

...
It really bugs me when this place becomes so quiet. Man how i miss the old days when it was MUCH more active.

...
And I've said this before, and I'm going to say it again Mids. I ABSOLUTELY think Ebsy would've chosen to live if given the chance. ESPECIALLY if she knew she was going to get to move on from her nightmare living situation...into a home with a person that truly loved her (that's you! hehe).

I'm going to use my mom as an example here...because I love her and like to talk about her...but also because I just think her story fits here.
Something like 20 years ago my mom was swinging on some swings near where she worked. The swings were over concrete...and they broke as she was on them. She landed directly on her left knee.
From that moment until the moment she passed away last year...she was in constant chronic pain from it. She had a ton of surgeries on it and the only pain meds that helped at all...were the kinds of pain meds that would completely knock her out all day and cause her to become very addicted very quickly (like morphine....she'd be out all day on the stuff and she had a HORRIBLE time slowly getting taken off of it because she'd become so physically addicted to the crap).

This being said...and true as it is that the pain held my mom back from MANY things in life and made happy living impossible at times...she made life pretty nice for herself despite it all.
I mean I guess I never flat out asked her if she'd have rather of just died the day she busted up her knee...
But I like to think that absolutely not! She was glad to have lived. To be able to do all that she was able to do...even though she was in so much pain through it all...she still had some amazing experiences...was able to do some amazing things.

So Ebsy and my Mom are similar in ways. They both live(d) with constant discomforts...but even so...I like to think they'd absolutely choose life to death.

(((((((Ebsy)))))))
I love you Kitty.

...
P.S.
The doctors did find something after MANY years that helped my mom with the pain btw. I always thought it to be a miracle.
They'd take a long needle and inject some kind of liquid into/on? her spinal cord in her back that completely numbed a big nerve that went all the way from her back to the bottom of her left leg. My mom was always amazed at how well it worked for her. She'd say she'd go into the procedure in a constant 7 or 8 (on a 1-10 pain scale. 1 being almost none, 10 being unbearable)...to being done with the procedure and being at a 1-2. Then she'd remain at between a 1-3 for several weeks after that.

Re: The what's bothering you RIGHT NOW thread Part IV

Man, it's 9:30 in the morning and I really feel like calling someone and going and doing something. Getting out of the house for the day.
Then I realized how alone I am withot my mom and my dad now. /sigh
It's my fault that I haven't put more effort into making friends and all...
But damn I'm lonely today.

Plus I'm damn near broke, and don't have a drive-able car...
//sigh. Today's going to suck.

Anyone wanna go hang out? It's a bit cold outside here so we can't go up to the mountains and sit by a fire just yet...maybe we can just go for a nice slow scenic drive though? There's plenty of lovely roads for that around here! Then we can go have lunch...I have enough to pay my half of the bill plus half the tip. And afterwords maybe we can go to a fancy coffee shop and get a coffee (if you drink coffee!) for you and a hot chocolate for me, and head back to my place where we can play a couple of board games I haven't gotten to play with anyone yet .

I totally agree that being in a loving home now more than makes up for any
health problems Ebony is having. Ebs Mids

How odd to hear you talking about your mom getting an epidural for her knee
pain. It's a shot of cortisone and steroid that's put in the spine. I'm happy to
hear it helped her.

But it's odd because that's what the doctor recommended I try. I'm not sure
why he thought he got to have an opinion because I've been seeing the PA
(physician's assistant) for over a year. All the doctor wanted to do was give me
pain meds for my back pain and migraine pain, none of which helped.

The PA was the one who suggested I get an x-ray of my back and an MRI of my
head. The x-ray showed a tiny little broken bone from falling off a horse 42 years
ago. I've had at least 4 doctors and 3 chiropractors since that accident and none
of them suggested getting an x-ray!

So now I've had an MRI of my lower back which shows spinal stenosis, that
tiny broken bone that presses against a nerve, and degenerative disk disease.
And now I have an appointment to see a spine specialist. He may recommend
an epidural like your mom had, but I'd like to know what options there may be,
not just be blown off with yet another pain med (shot).

I still owe Ebony the whole of space, she's done so much for me and there's no way I can repay the debt I owe her <3

Just saying, she means everything to me and I can't face the idea that one day I'll lose her and idk when she'll be gone

Oh fun! Are you in the twin cities? Anything special planned? I bet it's super cold up there right now!

Will you be shopping at the mall? Any special places you plan on eating at? (Jimmy John's perhaps?).

If you haven't tried it yet...and if you're hungry for some pizza and have a bunch of time to waste and the money for it...I can't recommend Giodanos pizza enough! Their deep dish pizza was the best pizza I've ever had in my life!

In my dream world...I'd like to make a trip to the twin cities every 2 or 3 years. Stay in a decent (but cheap) hotel, go to a baseball game, eat some delicious foods and have enough cash saved up to go shopping at the mall while not holding myself back too much.
