Gf moving out today

I was diagnosed with ADD in June due to complaints from my gf regarding inattentiveness. I have been on medication and seeing improvements since then. I have always had problems doing remedial tasks or remembering to do things like "putting the toilet seat down" or "helping out around the house". My ex is extremely particular how she wants things to be at home and I could never meet her expectations. I was always being criticized by her and it has taken a lot out me and my self-esteem. I eventually became withdrawn hiding on my computer because there was always something she would chew me out over. Honestly I am a little sad atm but I glad to be rid of that negativity. I have always been good at ignoring her flaws and could never point them out to her without her telling me to shut up or no one cares what I think etc. Shes packing up and moving out as I type this while I am at work. I am trying to look at this as a positive thing for myself though at 32 I just want a partner in life who gets me and has some patience. Thanks for listening.

Yeah. You definitely sound better off. I'm sure you will find someone else who does get you and is patient someday. And 32 really isn't that old.

Hi! Welcome! I know that for awhile this will hurt as she had good qualities too. In the long run, any friend or romantic interest who makes us feel ashamed and that we feel better not engaging with them, aren't truly who we are to be around or with anyway. You made a good decision.

Great time to hit the clubs and enjoy life. It's great not being weighed down.

Re: Gf moving out today

I think having a partner who wants things a certain way while battling adhd is like oil and water. Never gonna blend.

Re: Gf moving out today

Yup definitely good riddance. It's difficult enough having adhd without living with someone that nasty.

Re: Gf moving out today

Thanks for the replies. I had a nice quiet day with no one talking down to me. I must say this was for the best in the long run. Personally I felt her need to control everything was the real problem but hey everyone is differnt in what they want in life. Hoping for the best in future relationships but I am looking forward to doing whatever I want for a while and leaving the toilet seat up lol.

Do you attend any ADHD groups in your area? You never know, you may find someone there who is an ideal match for you. (After you've had a few fun nights out at the clubs of course )

Re: Gf moving out today

You're gonna love the calm and quiet at your place I had a partner who never really understood my problems and in hindsight I can tell that her demands on me helped escalate my depression to a level where I was considering ending my life.

Don't be in a rush meeting someone new, just enjoy your new life!
