New member, diagnosed at 51

Hello everyone, I'm glad to have found such a supportive place. I'm newly diagnosed and after going through the grief and acceptance stages for the last 3 months about it, I've been started on 20mg Adderall XR and while it's helped me tremendously already, I can see the negative side effects are really affecting me. The Adderall crash I get is mind-numbing and it takes 2-3 hours to get out of my horrible, sad, unmotivated mood.
Anyway, thanks for having me.

Hi, nolavf.

Welcome and I’m glad you’re posting.

The Adderall forum has a long thread about the “crash” you refer to. I take Adderall and I think a lot of us relate.

I have taken Adderall for several years and IMO dosage, sleep hygiene, nutrition, co-morbid conditions, and likely numerous things may factor in.

I have read that many people who take XR are prescribed an IR “booster” dose for when their XR wears off and they still need to function through the end of the day.

Perhaps post your concerns and definitely read the crash thread....the Adderall forum is a great resource for “real life experience” and support. (I think medical professionals may have difficulty relating to what we experience assuming that they don’t have the medical condition and therefore have not taken the same medication.)

See you around and welcome!

Sincerely,

Lash
