Music is innovative, new, and soul soothing. I have collected music for most of my life. It helps a number of adhd students focus.

I use music as a tool. I use it to get pumped up to do something, chill me out, keep me working, etc. I always have music going when I am working.
I have playlists on my computer named

I love music. I cant live without it. At the end of the day I must listen to music, it is the only way to sort of unwind after it all.
Somtimes it brings more order to my random thoughts...like theyre easier to manipulate. It is relaxing but if I lisetn to it for too long my mind overloads with too much daydreaming and it gets me aggitated. Doesn't mean I'll stop listening though. Lost in music is my favorite place to be.

Music combined with anything else is bad for me. I cannot double task. I admit it. Music for me is best when I am away from everything else. Music alone however, I can deal with and enjoy.

I cannot live without music. It is the ONE THING that got me through the darkest periods of my life because you can always find a song that describes in perfect detail how you feel about something...must have music.

I listen to music without lyrics, a song without lyrics can express anytype of emotion if the listener understands music.

When I was in college, I could not study in complete silence. People would watch me study wearing headphones and tell me that it wasn't a very good study habit. For some reason I would have to have loud music playing in order to reach some sort of rhythm with what I was doing. Unfortunately you weren't allowed to wear headsets during exams, and I'm sure it would have helped me.
I think another thing music does is drown out background noise that would otherwise distract me. I learned that I always have to have constant sound in order to concentrate, relax, and even sleep. And it has to be constant and uniform like the tempo of music or the drone of an electric fan. I'm able to sleep better if there's construction going on outside than if it was completely silent. I think this also contributes to my aversion to being out in the country. When it's too quiet I start to feel nervous. I had to move back to the city from the suburbs because I can't stand the calm. |
