I'm on Effexor XR & now Strattera.......

I was diagnosed recently with inattentive ADD & was started on 40mg Strattera daily....I'll be starting 80mg Strattera tomorrow......I've also been on antidepressants for the last 10 yrs.....I've been on Zoloft-Celexa-Lexapro & now Effexor XR 150mg daily.....

I'm having alot of the side effects of Strattera [lethargy-fuzziness in the head-decreased appetite-sleep disturbances-sweating].....I've also been more apathetic this week......I'm not saying that I'm depressed but its like I just don't care about things......I've always procrastinated but right now I'm procrastinating more than usual.....

I'm sure it has to do with my body/brain adjusting to the meds & the changes....I will say that the Strattera has helped with my focusing & concentrating.....I also wonder if the diagnosis of depression was affected by undiagnosed ADD...I have an appointment with a psychiatrist on monday [10/03] to discuss things...If anyone knows anything about the interaction of these meds please let me know............

Thanks,

Nick

well, according to this site about drug interactions:

"venlafaxine and atomoxetine (minor Drug-Drug):
Description:
The concomitant administration of atomoxetine with drugs that affect norepinephrine (e.g., norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) may theoretically result in additive or synergistic pharmacologic effects. The clinical significance is unknown. Caution is advisable if these drugs are used together."

My take on that is that they may increase the effects of the drugs. Your doc should be able to give you a summary of what that means. If you want to know now, ask a pharmacist that you trust. Mine was well versed about the interaction possibility of Effexor and Adderall.

Good Luck

When I was first diagnosed with ADD, I was prescribed the ADD medicine ADDerall, so I went to my pharmacy: "ADD Drugs" to fill the script. So, on my bottle it said: "ADD Drugs. ADDerall. take as needed for ADD". The meds also came with ADDitional information... couldn't resist
Seriuosly though, I couldn't make this stuff up... maybe it was a sign ...
