Exclamation Which Medication...

I talked to my doc and told her that I feel like I have Mild Depression, and Mild/Moderate Anxiety. She said well try Zoloft, and I am happy to try it BUT is this the best choice? I have heard things about "brain shivers", and Tremors resulting from zoloft. Im only on 50mg a day, and I am starting taking it tomorrow morning. Has anyone ever used Zoloft for MILD Depression? I am afraid this might be to strong or something. I am a pretty happy person, but I feel neutral to everything I see, hear, etc... I know im my head I want to do things (dreams, goals) but then I tell myself, ill do it later. I cannot get motivated to do anything about them, and I put myself down alot in my head as to why I cannot do it. I lost interest in pretty much everything, so I was hoping something like Zoloft could help me regain that interest. I only want to take it for 6 months or so to get me back on track. My doc said this is fine, but I am just wondering if this is the right drug. Sometimes I get really anxious out of nowhere and feel overwhelmed. I was on concerta for ADHD, but it made my anxiety so much worse it was killing me. Any ideas, or help from anyone who has tried zoloft for Mild symptoms similar to mine? Did it help? If not what did you use? How long did you take it?

EDIT: I also seem to be very anti-social, as in I am a little nervous to go out and talk to people. I hibernate in my house, and I was hoping Zoloft could cure that as well...

I had a bout of depression in the past with anxiety and I take Lexapro... it has helped me so much! The anxious feeling is gone...I used to feel like I was going to crawl out of my skin when I got really stressed out. The depression has never resurfaced...it's been 3 years. I was able to continue working and was able to function when I sought help, but it just seemed that 4 years of stress and junk piled up and I knew it was just getting harder to cope with everything. I don't know if Lexapro will help you... speak to your doc. I never had any side effect...they are few and rare with it. A little upset stomach until my body got used to it though.

Would Zoloft be something I should consider taking if I only have MINOR Depressive and Anxiety Symptoms? I dont want to take to much if it is not needed. I have heard that zoloft is only for really really depressed people. I am not that depressed, I just get depressed sometimes. I do get anxiety alot though. I dont know, let me know guys!

Zoloft is HELL to get off of, from what I've heard, so I'd only use it as a last option.

Re: Which Medication...

I have been taking Zoloft at different dosages for the past 7 years. I was an undiagnosed ADD and my physician kept upping my Zoloft to combat my symptoms. Finally I got to where I was getting severe tension headaches. I told my Dr. that I thought it was from the Zoloft so he told me to switch to Lexapro, which I took for about six months. About that time my headaches came back. I stopped taking the Lexapro and the headaches went away. I was off SSRI's for a while, unitl I couldn't take the depression I was in anymore. I went back on Zoloft 100mg and sure enough the headaches returned. I decided to stop taking it once again and the headaches went away. Now, my dr. suggests I take only 50mg per day, which I am, but I am still getting headaches. At this point, I don't know which med the headaches stem from. Before I was only on an SSRI and benzos. These headaches seem more like vaso headaches rather than tension headaches, so I may just be adjusting to the ADD meds. I will give it a couple of weeks. To help with your question, I would follow your doctors advice and see how it works. All SSRI's are going to have side effects and I am not sure that one is better or worse than the other. I think alot of it has to do with your brain chemistry as to which one is going to work for you.

Re: Which Medication...

I'm not sure Zoloft would be my first line SSRI choice, particularly for short term treatment of mild depression/anxiety. I'd probably go with Lexapro as it has a much lower instance of those terrible withdrawal effects associated with Zoloft, Paxil, Effexor (an SSNRI but still...), etc.

Re: Which Medication...

Hi, I have been on and off of Zoloft for the last 8 years. I recently just went back on after I have turned myself in for opiod abuse, and then feel into deep depression (I think I was always depressed, just didn't know it) and now, finally figured out I have ADD and OCD offically diagnosed, wow --

My experience with Xoloft (I can't even spell it) has been great, but, from what you have said, I would def. try something else, I believe everyone's chemistry is sooo different, so, listen to your body and side affects and do what you feel is best for you.

I currently taking Vyanse 40mg, Zoloft/Xoloft 150mg and 8mg of Suboxone (opiod substance abuse).

Good luck, I think you might want to try something that makes you feel better.
