Adding an antidepressant to Strattera
I tried adding Wellbutrin to Strattera as I feel like I'm not getting the improvement in my mood that I think I need. After tinkering with dosage I finally gave up due to the problems I had getting to sleep. Can anyone recommend an antidepressant that would work well with Strattera?
No sexual side effects. Energizing. Brightening qualities. Doesn't interfere with sleep. I don't ask for much, right? |

Did the Wellbutrin help with mood? Its the only stimulating anti-depressant I know of. Maybe you just need something to help you sleep.

If you are interested in an SSRI then Prozac would be the one to try. It is the most activating of the SSRI's while Paxil is at the other end as most sedating.

You had the right medication, IMHO. Wellbutrin is the only one that I know of without the dreaded sexual side effects. Maybe a smaller dose would be tolerable and allow you to sleep.
I was not able to sleep well while taking Straterra alone so it doesn't surprise me you couldn't sleep while taking both. good luck. |

Straterra itself was strongly depressing for me.
I felt like a stranger to myself, and saw the "only" change in myself as one of not participating in my own life. Others saw it as me not exploding at them. My view was very depressing to me. Their view I could "understand" but not own. Needless to say, I'm no longer on Straterra, because I chose life... Melladrama or truth? I dunno. Good luck. |

Thanks for all the input. I'm going to stick with just the 60mg of Strattera for now. Things have not been going well with our son who's bipolar. It's created a lot of chaos in our house and I feel like I'm in the middle of the whirlwind. I'm getting involved with a support group for weight loss which will help with the exercise (thanks Wheel). I'm also working on getting rid of some bad habits I've picked up on the Internet to help "anesthesize" the pain. Wish me strength.
