Straterra side effects

I just wanted to give ya'll an update on whats been going on with me. As some of my chat friends already know, Ive been out of work since last Mon due to a drug interaction between Straterra which raises blood pressure, and my long time blood pressure med; Monopril. What my reg doc said was that the two of them "went to war" inside of me. All my tests have been excellent and my bp is perfect now.I still get exhausted very quickly and I can't think straight, so Im resting a lot. I go back to work tomorrow but don't see any clients( I prefer that to "patients)." Wednes or Thurs. I've asked for help getting organized to get caught up and my wife, who also works at the mental health center with me is helping with that., which will be great.

I'm off all ADHD meds until Straterra gets completely out of my system.Tomorrow will be 14 days. Our best psych nurse at work said it will take about 2-3 weeks for it to do that, so I'm without ADHD meds until at least next week or maybe longer.I don't see my psychiatrsit who prescribes the ADHD meds until 10/27, so it remains to be seen what happens there. I'd been on Wellbutrin for years before switching to Strat on 8/26.It basically quit working for me so I wanted to try something else.I still think Strat is a great medication on paper, it's just not the one for me.I'll prob go back on Wellbutrin but will hopefully be able to add a low dose stimulant to give it a "boost," if you will. Meanwhile. I'm having even more trouble focusing and am lots more impulsive.

To show you how weird this is all getting. I'm filling out short term-disabilty papers from work. By doing that, I won't have to use up the rest of my PTO( Paid Time Off).We dont get seperate vactation vs sick leave anymore, so it's all in one pot so to speak. This will also help me if I have to go back at only half-time next week. It's all stressful because my waiting list is at about 6-8weeks.I know that's bad but it's all done by pc , so I have no control over it.I've been told to stop giving up all my lunch hours, which I 'd do if someone didn't get after me about stress. I would say my avg. waiting time throut the year stays around 4-6 weeks.Thats seems to be the same for my colleagues as well. My reg doc is cool.He reminded me that ADHD's tend to overdo it anyway and said that " the cemetaries are full of indespensible people." H'es right of course and I'm trying to chill. Posting in here is actually fun for me, so I again appreciate the opportunity.

It has been a while...

Are you feeling fine now?

What are you doing for ADHD for yourself after this?

Good luck! David

Hi,

TY for asking.I just saw my reg doc and am doing better.Today is my first day back full time.I'm pacing myself with paperwork and am not trying to overdo it.

I'm back to taking my old med (Wellbutrin) that basically quit working in late Spring. I see my psychiatrist in 2 weeks. and hope he'll add Concerta to the Wellbutrin. We'll see what happens then.

Hope you are doing well also.
