clonodine/calming effect...

How can clonodine calm a person down when it is used for high blood pressure?

I am on 0.5 mg Tenex twice a day. A tiny dose compared to that given for high blood pressure.
It really reduces my hyperactivity. However, anxiety and stress are unaffected by it. Amazingly I find the same sensory issues causing just as much stress as before, but now I just don't have much hyperactivity at all. For me, it does not have a calming effect at all. It just reduces my hyperactivity.

As to how it works, I think it inhibits norephenephrine reuptake. (don't hold me to that).

Being an antihypertisive medication (Alpha(2) Agonist) Clonidine is also used for OPIOID DETOX for many "EXTREMELY" uncomfortable withdrawal symtoms (chills, hot flashes, goosebumps, racing thoughts, that wanting to jump out of your skin feeling, etc.). However, this is usually at .2-.3mg x2 to x3 a/day dosing.

I've heard of many people being rx'd Clonidine for ADD, (I was offered it and am concidering it) ADHD, Opiate Detox, Horrible anxiety, sensory issues etc., but the dosing scedule is much different for everyone concidering other medications and blood pressure.

I hope it works out for you guys
