Recent ADD Forums outrage

I read the title of today's 'ADD Forums outage' email as 'ADD Forums outrage'.
One of my particular ADD Achiles' is misreading due to skimming.
My first thought was 'WTH have I done now ?' - I've only posted a couple of times in the last six months !
Came as some relief to realise my mistake.
Here's the aforementioned : -

---------------------
Dear Heidi-S,

Recently, the ADD Forums experienced a service outage, and was unavailable for a couple of days. We want to thank you for your patience during this time, and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

We look forward to seeing you back on the forums.

Regards,

The ADD Forums Staff

i think most of us have made a similar mistake. i just thought you were outraged because the forums were down for over 24 hours (notice shaking hands and twitching, because i was going through withdrawal). i would've tried to reasonably calm you, which would've calmed me....

I am sure with the unexpected outage that the forums experienced, it made us all realize just how important the forums are to all of us.

Welcome back everyone

Thumbs up

OMG, I panicked when I couldn't get on the board! I wasn't sure if it was a problem at my end or on the server end. I tried to email to admin, but that did not work the first time. Tried again later (the board was still down) and the email got through. Thanks Andrew for replying so quickly (calm my nerves) to let me know the board was down and to keep trying.

I haven't posted much, but I need this board. When I feel like I am totally nuts, I come here and (try to) read. It makes me feel sane.., like maybe it is those without ADD that are nuts?!?

I also skimmed the first few words and immediately thought, "What did I do wrong???? I must have offended somehow." Then I realized what it was all about. I think it's a typical ADD trait to immediately assume you're guilty or have done something wrong when confronted... and to misconstrue simple queries as confrontation and to get defensive.

For me it's probably b/c I make mistakes so often that I just immediately assume I'm guilty and am overly vigilant for people coming to me to tell me I've screwed up.... again!!

Boy, do I relate to that !
An over-active guilt gland always makes you look guilty even when you're innocent.
It's so powerful that you tend to suspect yourself even when you KNOW you're not guilty.

That's so true for me. I can be adamant about something, be questioned/queried once, and all of a sudden I'm saying, "well at least I thought I was sure. I suppose I could be wrong. Hmmmm" Most of the time I find I should have been more confident of my opinion.

Groan...

I'm glad the forums are back. I was starting to feel lost...

In all honesty, I did not realize how effective a support group this forum has been for me. I'd really miss it if it were not around.... plus it is the only connection I have with all the cyber friends I have here...
