Nicotine Gum to wake up
Hi I am just wondering if anyone has used nicerote gum before. If you don't smoke it should be quite stimulating right. I have a real hard time waking up in the morning and miss a lot of classes because of it. Sometimes Il set my alarm clock a hour early and take a Dexedrine then go back to sleep and try and wake up a hour later. This seems to work but it is a big hassle. Nicotine reaches your brain much quicker than dex does. I am planning on having my alarm go off then chew some nicotine gum and then hit snooze for 15 minuets and then try to wake up. Do you think the nicorett gum will work? I ordered the more potent 4mg kind. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

As a smoker for over 15 years... please don't open a box that you may not really want to.
Meaning... seriously consider the side effects prior to doing this.

Well this is not going to be a every day thing. I will only take it on the days I fell really tired. Maybe twice a week. In that little increment I don't think Il become addicted. Anyways those stupid things cost so much I will use them spiraling.

Yeah, not the best idea in the world. I would consider talking to your doctor about your issues and forget about the self-medicating.

Well the reason I am going to do this is because I have been recently diognosed with Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. For treatment I have to wake up at 8:15 for two strait weeks so I can stair into a bright light for half an hour. I have a real hard time waking up. I was perscribed Halicon for a sleeping pill so its wont be the med leaving me groggy in the morning(has a 3 hour half life) I just always have trouble waking up no matter how much sleep I get. Halicon is the best sleep inducing med I have been on yet but I still have trouble falling asleep with it. I have a real hard time falling asleep and waking up.

Scratch that idea. I got in the gum and it is nowhere near the stimulation you get when you smoke a cigrette. I chewed 5 pieces at once and I didn't even get the lightheaded feeling you get from smoking a newport or something. It seems to spread the effect of nicotine out over a longer period of time which would probley be good if you were trying to quit smoking but not for my reason for using it. The gum makes me have nausea and makes your throat burn. I think Il give the rest of it to someone who is trying to quit smoking.

I have a similar problem to you. I do not take any precribed meds at the moment. I have a much better and safer idea you might consider. The rest of the world typically have a coffee in the morning but if you're like me you probably dose off and cannot even make it out of bed?
At the moment I have some NO DOZ caffeine tablets next to my bed. I take one with a mouthful of water upon waking. Does wonders. I find this is normally sufficient remedy and qutie simple too! Good luck to you! |

I realy don't like caffine. I find it makes me very jittery and feel like crap. I ended up buying some chewing tabbaco and I found that it works good for the occasional groggy morning. Even though it tastes awful every once and a while it does the trick.
