Strattera is the only drug I've ever taken that had a HUGE impact on my libido. I didn't want sex at all, and had a hard time reaching full erection.

i second this statement, stattera was awful on my libido and also my penis size.

My normal flacid penis is probably 3" long and normally hangs down in my boxer shorts. On strattera it literally shrank to about half an inch (1/6th of its normal size!!!) Also I'm uncircumcised and the foreskin all bunched up and stuck straight out from my body which was extremely uncomfortable when walking around. If that wasn't bad enough, full erection was impossible, and the semi faded away quickly after no stimulation. Ejaculation was almost a full minute early before I orgasmed.

good news is that all the side effects went away a day after stopping. I'm on ritalin now and so far no side effects.

Panthroot, I'm currently taking Adderall and Wellbutrin and sadly still have the shrinkage effects. I've been taking adderall on and off for ten years and it has always caused scrotal, erectal and flacid shrinkage.

Took a break from using adderall, but found myself going back to it (it was prescribed). I also noticed the impotency thing. Except for me, i have an extremely high libido (i get extremely horny), but I just can't get it up. I think, though i dont remember, that i had the same problem when I first started taking adderall and it just corrected itself over time. I just hope that is the case this time.

I definitely have a lowered or non-existent libido on Adderall. It's like all the blood is in my brain and not flowing down there or something! My boyfriend used to be on Adderall, and he often complained that he couldn't get an erection or that his libido was dwindling when on it. Keep in mind, he's young like me (I'm 22, he's 25), and is generally a very sexual person. He always said it was just like he had no interest in anything sexual when on Adderall. For me, libido has been an on-going problem (due to Lexapro, I'm assuming).

All I can say conclusively is that Adderall does not do anything to improve my libido. And I will be presumptive in saying that I think it actually is a major culprit, along with Lexapro, causing a total lack of libido the majority of the time.

So frustrating.... ..GRR!

Just a thought. Stimulants act as vasoconstrictors, meaning they reduce the aperture of your arteries, especially going to your extremities (others have noticed cold hands, etc.) This is related to the erection problems as well as the flaccid shrinkage. The good news is that the extra dopamine probably supresses prolactin, which competes with testosterone. Just like any vasoconstrictor, with daily use your body will adapt and the constriction effects will disappear. This is why people who don't usually drink caffeine will have jacked up blood pressure when they do drink it, but people who drink the same amount everyday will have no effect on blood pressre. I believe this is because you will eventually adapt by overproducing adenosine receptors.

That said, I wouldn't want to be getting used to stimulants and be on SSRI's at the same time. It sounds like a real erection would be damn near impossible.

My hypothesis is that the best way to help your body adjust to this problem would be to lift heavy weights. This will increase your production of nitric oxide which will counteract the vasoconstriction as well as improve your general well-being. As long as your diet is good, you drink enough water, and you're not on any other erection-killing meds, (SSRI) throwin' some steel around will be your fastest ticket to schwingville.

I am having the same problem, I just started adderall again 3 months ago. I am 34 years old, I work out 4 days a week and have a very good diet of six small meals a day. My libido is a lot higher, but that is not good when you can't get it up.
Before I started with the adderall 3 months ago, I had always got an erection like I did as a teenager, often at wrong times just by thinking about something. But now nothing and if I really try maybe only a 60% erection that is worthless in sex.
I also noticed my scrotum is always stiff and penis looks like I scared turtle when flaccid. Like when you get out of a pool in cold weather. My hands and feet always seem cold and they fall asleep as well.
I hope this goes away, I took adderall in my 20s for 4 years and don't ever remember this happening. I went out and picked up some blue pills today, I hope it helps. This really sucks.

I guess you could say that I'm an avid adderall abuser, my tolerance has skyrocketed and most people can't even believe how much I take. A lot of what you guys said seems to fit what I experience for side effects too. It all started about a year and a half ago when I had only been taking it for a couple months I went to have sex with my fairly new girlfriend. It was gonna be our first time with each other and I had no fears of not getting an erection whatsoever since it had always worked fine before and I wasn't aware that ED was even a possible side effect of adderall. Well wouldn't ya know it was hard as can be up till the point where I was getting ready to put it in. I was quite broken up over it and I am the worst overthinker I've ever met so I seriously cannot get the fear out of my head when the time comes. Like a lot of people, apparently, my libido shoots up hard and I am able to fantasize incredibly vivid and realistic thoughts. It works just fine with my long time ex who I still hook up with occasionally...in fact it makes sex feel way better. But it never works with new girls and I always have to explain it and pray she is understanding. Mind you this is when I'm not on it and I even stopped using for 2 months and still had the same problem. I have found that once I get more comfortable around her and finally get it to work usually it works fine with that girl from then on. I do believe the side effects are worse for people who aren't even close to having ADHD...aka me. I believe this is a mental block that will forever plague me. Btw viagra doesn't even work at all for me.

Ya... Adderall seems to get me focused and non sexual until I start coming down from it. Then I'll see a girls legs and my sex drive will go through the roof. Im talking crazy. Girls that dont look appealing to me normally will turn me on.

I can get an erection fine, but the blood flow is a little constricted from the stimulant effect. As a result, though, sex seems to be way more intense and the orgasm is so intense I feel like Im turning inside out. idk... maybe Im taking too much.
On the other hand, shrinkage in the normal state sucks. Never a good feeling.

I told my doc (about the shrinkage, not the turning inside out ). He just laughed. I took that to mean it was normal.

Yeah, the first time I took them I thought someone played a joke on me and slipped me a penis shrinking pill instead.

Add me to the "horny-but-impotent-when-on-Adderall" club. After about a month on the addy, my sex drive is sometimes out of control. When it's effects are peaking, this isn't an issue so much because i'm usually focused on my daily to-do list (which does not typically include "masturbate for five hours"). But when the addy is wearing off a little bit, and i decide to "relieve some tension" in the early evening, hours may go by before that tension is...er...relieved.

When i first started to take adderall regularly i never would've imagined this side effect. When i used to just take it occassionally for things like finals and papers in college it turned me into a robot for whom sex would've been the last thing on its mind. Interestingly, this spike in libido happens to have occurred after i stopped taking Wellbutrin (which is supposed to boost sex drive).

Annoyingly enough, although i may be as eager as a racehorse at the starting gate, i -- like so many people here -- have an ironic inability to "rise to the occassion." Even when i'm "alone...relieving tension," i realize that my erection would not be strong enough for decent intercourse.

I hope this cruel combination of side effects subsides over time!! (Along with my blood pressure going back to normal)

Well, I appreciate all the information people have donated to the thread. I have gained a better understanding of my "problem," heh.

I am a 19 year old male college student and, though I may not technically have ADD, the medicine, Adderall (20mg), allows me to fulfill my academic and personal goals with less of a mental struggle. I was really excited to find something that helped me to "meet my potential" (sorry for the cliche ). I could actually sit down and enjoy a book!

Once I realized the unfornate testicular side effects, the excitement was quickly replaced by dread. This is something you don't want in college, that's for sure. My use of Adderall is generally inconsistent, so I hope my body will adjust with regular use. Also, I'll take the advice of mammalspod and be sure to drink water and work out (something I admittedly don't do). We'll see how that goes. If this continues, I'll ask my doc to switch me to something else. Perhaps, I'll ask for Ritalin, because it seems to have a better record in this regard.

By the way, I seemed to have the same problem with Concerta.

I have the opposite problem. Man i've read everyone's post in here and i'm a little worried for my future. I've been taking adderall about 8 years or so on and off. It's allways caused a lot of tension and anxiety but if i'm horny, which i very very often am on adderall, i have no erection problems. Actually i get so hard, and even bigger, sometimes that it actually kind of feels a bit uncomfortable, also after ejaculation my penis is still semi hard for like 20 30 mins and inches and burns at the head. What's weird for me is that when i get an erection the part of my penis that is inside of my body under my sac, gets really really hard, even after erection has subsided it is still fully hard for about a minute or two which cocerns me. Also i have diffeculty urinating after ejaculation while i'm on it, especially after alcohol, and then it burns I'm just afriad that this is my body compensating for ED in the future. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ughh.....maybe you should see a specialist bro lol. jk....but seriously....anyway. Yeah this side effect is scaring the crap out of me. Im a 21 year old (black) male. I am usually hypersexual. My ex is bipolar and we used to have sex up to 3-4x a day with no prob. But when we started using ecstacy this is something that I noticed also. X also contains like amphetamines or whatever. But I took a little to much adderrall yesterday and almost past out when i saw my little friend in such a helpless state. So now I'm doomed to either being incapable of completing simple necessary tasks or being able to please my lady friend. This sux.

Will doctors give a 21 year old viagra? If so its gonna get ugly hahah.
