This book is an awesome insight that is absolutly nessesary for us to get on with our lives after diagnosis and treatment. Unfortunatly not ADD friendly to read but well worth the struggle. I can only read a paragraph or two at a time before I stop to reflect (or daydream) alot of the stuff hits home.

I have to read this when I won't be interrupted and with a notebook/pad of paper beside me. It seems almost every paragraph evokes some kind of epiphany or personal realization or idea for my book, etc. It is a difficult one to stay focused on, but the information/suggestions are pretty vital to ADDults, in my humble opinion.

Anyone reading it, can you give a reviewers example of something that was personally significant to you? Thanks!

wheel1975: I have not completed the book just yet, but I really like her idea of the 'journey'. I wish I had read this book years ago and it would have saved me some long, hard roads I had to go down alone to figure out somethings that she illustrates right away. I have already been through most of her journeys already, but I find the idea 'personally sigificant". One of my main goals with patients is to take them to the point of understanding they cannot 'cure' their AD/HD and it will never 'go away', so I work with them in learning to accept themselves the way they are and to find joy internally. Both big themes in this particular book.

Hi all,
I've enjoy reading your comments on "Journeys.. I was sent a free copy of the galley for a review - never got the galley read. Then I was sent a copy of th book, still haven't gotten it read. Any hint as to how Ican get into it??? I'm far from a "newbie," -- "diagnosed" by my school Pupil Personell Services Team way back in 1993. But I still would be interested in reading this book. Hmmm...I'm relatively new to commenting in this forum. Any suggestion how to type at normal speed (which for me is extremly fast) witout leaving out letters??? AGG!!! This is a tad frustrating.. Anyway, I also wanted to tell various "posters" that really like your quotes in your signature! Ithink the one about people who are "cracked" is my all time favorite!!! LOL Hugs to all, ![]() MK |

I cannot remember where I found out about Journey Through Addulthood ( I think when i was doing a search on the Web). But I went to the local library to see if they had it and they did. I was looking for some info to validate what I was feeling, and boy did it. I am a recovering Alcoholic, and the reason that I say this is to draw a pairity between finding out that you where an alcoholic and the relief that comes with that, and the relief that comes (without being formally tested) with the reason that you think you are half crazy because of the ADD I think that the book is well written and would suggest it as a must read book. I have yet to read Driven To Distraction, so I have nothing else to compare it to, but this book has my vote .

This is a wonderful book, and it's one that bears re-reading a few times. I read it through quickly the first time, and refer back to it often. There are many thought-provoking ideas in it, and I've found that it can't be fully absorbed in one sitting.
