New to ADD

Hi, all.

I'm Jeanne, and was just diagnosed ADD yesterday. I'm also Bipolar I, rapid cycling, Hypothyroid, and suffer from migraines and tension headaches. Once the bipolar got under control, the ADD made itself known. I'm on ritalin for the Add, and I'm really really happy with the results so far....the running commentary in my head has stopped!!

I also use a service dog, Lucky, for my moodswings and migraines. The migraines used to come on suddenly, and make me disoriented. With him alerting me before they happen, I can use an Imitrex nasal spray to stop them in their tracks. For the moodswings, he lets me know to be hypervigilant untill I can tell which way I'm going. They used to catch me by surprise, and I'd be lost in them. I'm guessing he can smell the biochemical changes associated with each event, because the new smell of the ritalin seems to have him a little confused right now...lol

Lucky's a mini dapple black and tan dachshund, by the way.

Looking forward to learning more and exploring these boards,

Jeanne and Lucky

Hi Jeanne (and Lucky),

Welcome to the ADD Forums!

This is the first time I can recall any of the ADD Forum members mentioning the use of Service Animals to assist them with their challenges.

I'm so glad things are working out for you, and please keep contributing
