Where Can I Find a Health Care Professional?

One of the most frequent questions asked here is
“Where can I find a health care professional that treats in my area?”

This thread is an effort to provide this information in one area for easy access and up dates.

ADDF does not endorse or recommend a specific individual or institution for ADD treatment.

We do not nor will we collect information from individual practitioners or institutions.

As a service to our membership we have collected a list of WEB sites that are designed to assist the user in finding a health care professional in his or her area. Please do investigate all individual professionals or institutions chosen to treat you or a family member.

If I have any additional information that I believe will be useful it is located under the hyperlink.

The specialties most associated with the treatment of ADD are psychiatrist, neurologist or pediatricians.

Below is a hyperlink to our regional section. This area of the forums is divided by region. Example there is an area specifically for members from Australia, another area for those in the UK. The United states is divided up according to regions then states.

Looking in this area under your region may also yield sources for health professionals in individual post.

Regional Forum ADDF

There are some members from countries not listed and there is a section titles other countries for those from countries not listed.

Uk Medical professionals - ADD/ADHD

I have tried to look for health care practitioners before for this living in the UK but apparently did not use the proper words. With the assistance of jess I was able to learn a bit more about where those in Europe can look for ADD help.

Learning Assessment and Neurocare Centre

The Learning Assessment and Neurocare Centre was established in 1993 by Dr G D Kewley, Consultant Paediatrician. The Centre specialises in the multi-professional assessment and on-going management of children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of neurobiological disorders, learning and behavioural difficulties, especially ADHD and related conditions

The Centre is located in Horsham, West Sussex, near Gatwick Airport

They offer a link to a map on the WEB site hyper linked above.

THE DYSCOVERY CENTRE

The Dyscovery Centre is an internationally Ė recognised Centre offering assessment and assistance to children and adults with dyslexia, dyspraxia and other learning difficulties. It plays a leading role nationally and internationally in research and training in these areas and its inter-disciplinary staff contribute to a number of the Departmentís courses.

The Dyscovery Centre was set up in 1998 and has established itself nationally and internationally in the field of Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD) and related developmental disorders including ADHD, Dyslexia and Aspergerís Syndrome

~Underlining Mine~

I have quote jess word's as written, in her PM . Her willingness to help is greatly appreciated If you get help through her sharing of knowledge be sure and tell her thank you. This is an example of ADDF members helping other ADDF members

If you have information about where other members can look to find qualified Medical professionals in the assessment and treatment of ADD especially in countries out side the US, I will be more than happy to pass along any information you have to offer or allowed you to do so your self.

To the best of my knowledge all information and statements provided by members are unbias meaning the member does not profit in any way from their recommendation. This area is merely a tool for information sharing between members in one place with the intention of helping those here who may not know where to begin searching for medical help relating to the treatments of ADD in adults, teens and children.

Please Note This site does not endorse any particular health care professional or group. Readers are responsible for throughly researching all health care professionals.

Another site which may prove useful to those in the UK was found in my search.

add.org- Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder U K Professionals

I do my best to try all hyperlinks to ensure they are in working order and to ensure they are kept up to date Should you find any dead links or out dated information please Private Message me so I can correct the problem.

Thank you.

Re: Where Can I Find a Health Care Professional?

Here are some links to facilities in Maryland. I found these with a quick google search for "ADHD doctors". I can't vouch for the quality of any of them so you need to separate the chaff for yourself.

I live in Maryland and I had a hard time finding someone to diagnose me and an even harder time finding a psychiatrist who could treat ADHD in adults. There are a lot of them out there but finding them is difficult.

good luck

Me

Neurobehavioral Associates. these people do ADHD testing and neuropsychiatric evaluations. If you need a diagnosis they are very good, but they don't accept insurance.
