Strattera and $$$$

I went to the dr today for my two week checkup and he wants to put me on Strattera and wean me off of the Adderol.. only problem, I went to get the prescription for the Strattera and it has a $50 co pay!!! Now I am scared to death because I can't afford $50 a month for meds. Does anyone know of something that is similar to Strattera?

How much are the co-pays for other ADD meds.

I think the only other non-stimulant that is also used to treat AD/HD is Wellbutrin.

You should also ask your Doc if he has any coupons for the Straterra

Was there a reason the Dr wants to take you off the adderol?

Right now because Strattera does not have a generice my co pay is $50. I was paying $10 for generic Adderol. He wants to put me on the Strattera because the Adderol does not last long enough and if he has to up the dosage I am afraid of the possible addiction. The Dr. was out and wasn't able to let me know if there is another med I could take so maybe I will find out Monday. The nurse was nice enough to give me the sample bottle of 24 pills that she had.

FYI it's also a lot easier for the MD's to prescribe Strattera since it's not a controlled substance.

Try $230 for sixty 40mg capsules of Strattera and that was the lowest price in town.

Concerta was $76 for thirty 36mg tablets.

Some of these pharmaceutical companies need to be more compassionate with their pricing. This is a horrid price difference, especially for a medication like Strattera that takes several months before showing any real results. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, they do and it's crazy that medication that is produced in the US is sold in countries like Canada for a fraction of the price.

when I took straterra lucky for me It was only 3 dollars copay ecause I was on medicaid, but I looked at the price for a months worth of straterra and it was over 200 dollars....I literally spit out my tea when I red that...now that I don't have medicaid I take dexadrine cause it is the cheapest meds out there and I helped me a he** of alot better than strattera. i hope straterra works for you

well, I took strattera for about a month but stopped now because it was giving me horrible stomach aches. DR. wanted to put me on Adderral XR but got to the pharmacy and it too was a $50 copay (brand name drug) so I am back to the regular adderral and that's ok with me. DR said if I needed more focus in the evenings to just take my afternoon dose later in the day.

well Adderall quit working for me so now I am back on the stratterra but at least the Dr can write a script for a whole year so I won't be paying $50 in addition to the $45 copay to see him... so I guess it works out in the end. Just have to take it with food or stomach gets crampy...

Strattera should be available in Canada very soon (if not already), so It'll probably be available for mail order soon too - at half the price as the U.S. (and that's including the high margins the mail-order pharmacies make!).
But I don't want all you rich Americans to scarf up the supply of our cheap drugs before I get a chance to give it a try! ;-)

My doctor told me he believes that it will be about four more months before Strattera becomes available in Canada.

It's been a while now. How is Strattera working out for you all? Have you found anything that works better?

I pay $65 a month, 60mg x 30. Strattera is the only med I have tried. I wonder if I should give any others a try. I know this sounds stupid, but I really can't tell if it is working or not. 2004 was such a blur for me. I started taking it in July.
