HELP w/ medications
Hey everyone,
My name is Tony and I've been on Ritalin for about 2 weeks and have been experimenting with different dosages, unfortunately I haven't felt any effects from the drug aside some of the side effects such as feelings of nervousness, the jitters, and slight nausea. Adderall, Dexedrine, Concentra and Wellburtin, Tofranil, Anafrinal (dealing with OCD also) are some of my next choices, yet to help better "target" my correct medication.... I was wondering if any of you out there has shared a similar "Ritalin experience" to mine and if so which medications did you switch to......any feedback would be greatly appreciated Thanks |

I have been taking 15 mg per day (3 pills @5 mg) for the past e weeks. I get some of the same sensations you describe if I don't take the pills with food. I wouldn't consider giving up on the Ritalin just yet. My strategy is to know beforehand what I hope to accomplish after I am into my "Ritalin day." The medication puts some gas in your tank, but ~you~ have to drive the car.
My most undesired side effect is that I can get even more cranky than I normally am. I don't know what to do about that. Some of the more experienced people have said that sometimes anti-anxiety medications are added. I think I want to stick with this for a month or so. I like the ability focus and complete things that I get ~IF~ I have made some kind of plan first thing. I have some perfectionistic attitudes and a tendancy to fuss over minor matters that haven't gone my way. Adderall was okay by me. I tried that first. I got pretty much the same results as Ritalin provides, but it was more expensive. You will need to tell your doctor how you feel and decide with him or her whether the up sides of stimulants (you should pardon the expression) compensate for the downs. Remember, everyone's mileage differs.
