It is really cool to see this section with so many posts! And there are a variety of people posting. I went back over the last month or so and there are 11 to 13 DIFFERENT poets who have posted and that is really cool. A while back there were only 3 or 4 people who would post poems.
I am just really happy to see that so many are participating in this section. Keep writing those poems because we all have some poetry in us. Those who have not seen the movie, Dead Poets Society with Robin Williams, I highly recommend it. Even if you have seen it, you shoud go see it again. It is a great movie that speaks much to poetry and living life to it's fullest. I was reading a book recently call "The Power to Prevail" by David Foster, and it quoted the movie in the book. I will put the section that was quoted because it is great. There are many other great scenes. Check out the movie. Here you go: Quote:

I have seen the movie James. Don't know as I would want to watch it again. But I may change my mind.
As you say this section is doing quite well lately. For which I am truly grateful. Although I haven't been in much, it warms my heart to see people sharing their innermost thoughts with the rest of us here. Thanks!

Oh Mary....You should change your mind. Now it didn't win an Oscar or anything but it is a hopeful movie. It is a movie that inspired me. Maybe it is because it came out a couple years after I graduated from high school and the message of it made an impression on me. I would check it out again if I were you
![]() Paul, the four pillars are Tradition Honor Discipline Excellence Here is another quote from the movie that I like: John Keating(Robin Williams' Character): "We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race and the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, law, business, engineering...these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love...these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, 'O me! O life!...of the questions of these recurring, of the endless trains of the faithless...of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here...that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.' That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"

Melanie,
I too have found that pain will enable me to write more as well. I don't only write when I am in pain, but I have A LOT of poems that were written in painful periods. The real trick is to be able to sit down any time, good times or bad, and be able to write. That takes discipline! Inspiration, pain, drama is a great driver of creativity. I want to get to the point of the below quote, but I am not there yet: Quote:
