Headaches?

Well, I tried concerta (my first ADD med) but it seemed to give me a persistant headache which lasted all day (not throbbing, more like a dizzy feeling - like you just woke up, or just got off a merry-go-round) i wanted to see if it would go away but then I thoguht i might be getting the flu... (since that's going around campus) and THEN i thought that it could be becusae my wisdom teeth are coming in.

but now i've ruled all that out and i'm sure that it's the concerta. I took it for about 5 days - the dizzyness stopped about 1.5 days after stopping. then I tried it again a few days later and the dizzyness came back...

also it didn't seem to have any effect on concentration or motivation or ANYthing... but I was only on 18mg so it's possible it just wasn't enough.

My doctor is having me try somthing else soon - I hope I found one soon!!

I had that type of reaction to Concerta too. I felt like I had the flu. My stomach was more affected than my head though.

I tried Ritalin LA right after and I had no side effects from it. It doesn't last quite as long at the Concerta but it's pretty close.

I actually just started taking Adderall XR a few weeks ago because I wasn't quite sure if I was getting the affect from the Ritalin LA that I was supposed to. The ADDerall XR works well and lasts a bit longer for me than the Ritalin LA.

Scott - yeah... I tried out Lexapro for anxiety for 3 weeks, but it did nothing at all for me except for make me super un-motivated. It sucks beucaes now I'm playing catch-up for all the stuff i didn't do then....

Basically I think the problem was that I didn't really have very bad anxiety. (it's definatley there, but it's a coping mechanism for me, and when you take it away, there's no reason to do ANYTHING!! Like for example, it just didn't feel like that important to go to class.)

other than that i've never tried anything.

Tara, have you ever tried the regular ritalin or adderall? do you think there's much difference betweent he long-lasting and short lasting other than the up/down effect?

No, I haven't tried the shorter acting.

Were you taking the lexapro with a stimulant?

When I started taking the concerta, it didn't work right away. I was having some problems. It's fine now, thanks to giving it time.
For the headaches Maybe you could try taking tylenol and see if it works. Also, there's medication for headaches availible by 'script.
