Unhappy Help--Rit LA works, but makes me drowsey

Hello all,

I was wondering if anybody can give some feed back or recomendations.

I have been taking Ritalin LA 30mg...up to three times per day (ok by DR.) and after about 1.5-2 hours after I take the med I feel tired (go figure?????) The first 1.5 to 2hours are great I am on and focused, but once I start getting drowsy, I am more focused on that. Has anyone experienced this? I am wondering if the problem could be the time release. I have very fast metabolism and can actually go to sleep after taking the med if I want, but do not dig on the tiredness I feel.....
Please Help

Maybe it's not the right medication for you.

What should I expect from something that is effective?
Because it seems to work very well, but not long enough

Sleepiness right after taking a stimulant medication usually means too high a dose.

Sleepiness several hours later means a stimulant medication has worn off.

if you are on other meds, you may want to talk to your doctor about possible "P450 Interactions" that could be causing more sedation than normal, if the drugs are taken separately.

I'm in the same situation as your pretty much, Normal ritilan at 10 or 20mg a day did the same thing to me and I'm currently on the RTP version of it, similar to what you have right now at 2x 20mg a day (I started with 1x20mg) and I crash hard after an hour or 2. I'm focused for an hour or so, but after that I say bye
