Hi,
Just wanted to say hello.
So .... hello.
Me : - As yet undx'ed, but seeing my doctor this very afternoon.
How I found out about my ADD (no 'H') : - Like a lot of non-H'ers, I didn't find out about my ADD until very late in life <sniff> .... 42 - heh !
In fact, I never even imagined it was applicable to me - I think largely because of the misleading name of the condition.
Well, for years I've been getting relief from ADD whenever I get a cold or a fever .... and for a long time, have been looking for others who find the same - though sadly, to no avail ... until last week.
Then I came across a number of posts detailing the same thing (from up to 7 years ago ... <all that wasted time> .. ) - and they all had ADD in common.
So I checked out the symptoms and over the next few days, spent my time looking at the personal descriptions and saying "that is SO me" and "how me is THAT ?".
So I'm going to my witch-doctor this afternoon, for a formal referral to diagnosis.
I don't hold out much hope for stimulant or depressant medication - but am nevertheless, sufficiently intrigued to try it.
My life : - Interesting, difficult - perhaps even, worth it. I won't say it hasn't been painful, frustrating and demoralizing, because it has - but hey, this is real life.
Perhaps I sound pessimistic, but that's nothing like the reality of the matter.
Like a lot of ADDers, I've suffered with acute anxiety and grinding depression - and for that reason am very compassionate towards my fellow man (and of course, woman).
But like a lot of ADDers too, I remain upbeat and optimistic.
I'm a loving sort and adore people and animals - and indeed, the wonder and beauty of life generally.
Anyway, I look forward to making all of your acquaintances and learning a great deal about our shared "affliction".
