Is this a typical Hypomanic State??

I feel stuck in a hypomanic state for days. Mainly, much too much energy. I can't sit still. My mind is racing at 100Miles. I don't know if this due to Prozac and the Vyanase or extra supplements that I am taking such as DHEA and stuff like Creatine. I guess you trade one addiction for another. Now I am obsessed with working out which is good and bad .

But has anyone ever experienced this?? I haven't had any delusional type of behavior, however.

Also, as I mentioned the doctor who prescribed these (except for the supplements) is in Hartford CT. I have no psyc doc in this area and due to my prolific spending, my bank account is now in overdraft. I have $25 to last for the next 11 days -- I am going thru my apt. matching receipts to unworn clothes & returning for credit to my debit or credit cards.

Re: Is this a typical Hypomanic State??

Maybe your dose of Vyvanse is a tad high if you're feeling speedier on it than you normally are. Have you tried calling your doctor for a quick phone consultation? These are free, so you don't have to worry about fees. Plus, doctor's don't want you to be overdrugged on their behalf... they don't like malpractice lawsuits.

Re: Is this a typical Hypomanic State??

I think its time to call the doctor and let him/her know what is going on. If you feel you are having a hypomanic reaction, the doctor should be made aware so changes to the meds can be made if necessary. You didn't list any mood stabilizer that you may be taking. Prozac can set off a hypomanic reaction and vyvanse doesn't help the cause. What other prescription medications are you on beside Prozac and Vyvanse?

Re: Is this a typical Hypomanic State??

Having taken both Vyvanse and Prozac(at seperate times) I can say I felt more like that on the Prozac than I did the Vyvanse. Vyvanse did make the OCD a little...eh...worse, but the Prozac(along with Adderall XR) made me feel like I was crawling inside my own skin....I had to move, do things, anything...whether it be working out, shopping, just MOVING...it got to the point I started cutting myself at work because I was getting in trouble at work for not staying at my desk...I had to get rid of my tension somehow.

Vyvanse on the other hand...has a more calming effect to it for me.

Needless to say....I don't take Prozac anymore and I will never ever again in my life take it....even if my life depended on it, but that's just from my experience with it.

I was also taking Prozac w/ stimulants w/o any mood stabilizer...I don't know if that changes things or not but I wasnt willing to try it.

Re: Is this a typical Hypomanic State??

I think this condition is called Akathisia which is a side effect of Anti Depressants. I noticed that late in the day I get very jittery from taking the Vyanase & Prozac. I am also on Gabapentin a generic for Neurontin. I find that this helps with sleep and is somewhat calming but really doesn't last long.

http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/akathisia-mania.htm

The problem is that I need to find a doctor & time to see one. I crushed the top of my finger with a 65LB dumbell & had to goto the ER for a few stitches on the top of my finger. I have been taking time off for follow up appointments. So finding the time is difficult under the second week of june when my boss is on vacation for a week.

Also, they say that these psyc drugs kill your sex drive. Well for me it is the opposite, its like I can't stop thinking about it.

Re: Is this a typical Hypomanic State??

Yeah...I came across the same condition when I was researching what I was going through. pdoc took me off the Prozac immediately...but I don't know...I still get it sometimes. Crash was a little rough last night...it was like a light switch all the sudden....my life sucked after like 2 weeks of being on top of the world. I'm glad I have an appointment tomorrow.

Just give your pdoc a call on the phone...see what he has to say.

Re: Is this a typical Hypomanic State??

Thanks -- all I know is that the Vyvanase is giving me bad reactions such as bad depression & anxiety late in the day. I am taking more of the Gabapentin (Neurontin) to help with the anxiety. The day that I began this thread I didn't take any vyanase so it may have been a withdrawl & rebound effect from the Neurontin.

I have to mail back the remaining prescriptions for Vyvanase since it is a controlled substance before I can get a prescription for another ADHD med. Focalin seemed to work the best.
