Re: Famous People who have LD/ADD/or other DDs
Tracey Gold was on Growing Pains not Family Ties
I added this in another post but I'll put it here as well: -Michael Phelps, Olympic Swimmer (ADD) -Jonathan Papelbon, pitcher for the Boston Red Sox (ADHD-and if you've seen him off the field you would notice this is VERY obvious lol) |

Re: Famous People who have LD/ADD/or other DDs
the most nonADD people I know are more disordered than the most ADD people I know - sure the ADDers are in and out of the asylum -
however it's the nonADDers who're sending them there. NonADD thinking associates strongly with 'chain of command' 'unquestioning loyalty' 'obedience' 'hierarchical systems where one gets to the top by knowing people' kinda' - I guess - - suggesting that some very learning disordered behaving people might just be very nonADD. If one thinks linearly - - lateral thinking is impossible. Incapacity to think laterally might appear as a learning disability - - to those of us getting only brief glimpses of the individual in question. Personally - - I'm with Naruto - don't tow the party line - burn it and run around transforming oneself into naked 12 foot tall blond women afterwards. (yes I *can*) :-)

Re: Famous People who have LD/ADD/or other DDs
This January article about actor Jared Leto caught my attention. He's talking about his amazing preparation for his role in the new movie Chapter 27, where he gained 70 lbs of fat--kind of like the opposite of what DeNiro did for Raging Bull.
In a single sentence, he disclaims that he has ADD, but then admits to having the ability to "hyperfocus"--which is one of the quintessential characteristics of add/adhd. I just found it ironic. "When I focus on a film, I disappear and focus on that completely. It's the same thing when I'm on tour or in the studio making music: I commit and focus on that completely. I kinda have the opposite of ADD. I have a hyper-focused disorder, where if there's a given task in front of me I really concentrate on that." http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/artic...90/story.jhtml |

Re: Famous People who have LD/ADD/or other DDs
This is a great list! There are many people who had/have ADD or ADHD, or had some sort of mental illness or learning disorder.
Churchill I have always heard had depression or bipolar disorder, not ADD. However, some depressive symptoms cause attention problems. It's not impossible for them to co-exist. Another one to add to the list is Howard Hughes. He had very serious obsessive compulsive disorder. It has been said he did much better on medications, but so many of the ones availible at the time made him groggy, and then he felt unable to do things. I'm curious why some people say they take the list with a grain of salt, or find it hard to believe. Is it from experience of finding this information incorrect, a desire for more evidence, or a disbelief that people this sucessful and well-known could have a disability? I don't wish to argue the point, I'm simply curious and thought I would ask. ![]() Take care, Emmie |

Re: Famous People With ADD
leonardo davinci had ADD?
It is pretty much pointless to go so far as to speculate someone long dead had such a condition.
