Good news Re: Adderall new formula

I have good news for everyone suffering from Teva brand new formula

I will start with the summary (link proofs are at the end of this posting):

(1) Eon labs is Owned now by Sandoz
Sandoz is a generic company owned by Novartis (makers of brand Ritalin).

(2) Eon labs still make adderall generic
they now use the same formula as sandoz for their generic

(3) sandoz generic = eon lab generic is reported to be very smooth and equal to the brand when made by shire if not better because they do clinical trials and studies on their generics

You will get good adderall formula or at least better than teva new formula for generic price

let us increase demand for eon labs adderall (after you guys try it and like it) So eventually, more pharmacies carry it and STICK IT TO SHIRE AND TEVA. they fooled us (changed the formula). Fooled us (teva makes the brand and generic which are the same thing different in price). And NO, WE ARE NOT LAB RATS. change the formula when they want to and push vyvanse on us because the patent on adderall expired and dint make more money that way. Vyvanse is S*** to and doesn't work.

this is the long part:

I did little research online and found the following:

Besides teva/barr , there are two other generic manufacturers of Adderall. There are not as available everywhere because big chain pharmacies like CVS or Walgreen's buy in bulk. its cheaper for them to buy from teva because they get both BRAND and GENERIC adderall from the same company.

Eon labs which is now owned by sandos which is a generic subsidiary of novartis makers of brand Ritalin still makes generic adderall (see link to Q3 2009 catalog). AND there generic adderall is better than the brand by shire. Sandos has high quality standards heavly regulated by the European union.

Duane read pharmacy that I went to in Manhattan had it. You can call and ask if they have it. Not all do Duane read have it. also they you can order online from them if they don't have stores in your state. You can also try calling sandos and ask which pharmacies they supply. their number is Toll Free 1-800-525-8747

I apologize for the spelling errors, I am late for school. Gotta make up for lost time that I suffered from Teva's adderall.

Huh? I would like to try Eon, but Vyvanse actually is quite well, if your taking 70mg or so.

Re: Has anyone noticed change in Adderall (brand, not generic) formula?

I just switched to Sandoz/Eon generic adderall. Its the real thing. Much smoother with minimum side effects, just like shire's old formula brand adderall (AD imprint). GUESS WHAT: I paid $27.99 for 90 tabs. (20 mg three time a day) vs. $312 for the brand

I am back!

By the way: Teva/Barr/duramed just wake up and issued a RECALL on Adderall's new formula . little too late. They have to be ADD too just little slow

Re: Has anyone noticed change in Adderall (brand, not generic) formula?

I was involved in the Teva/barr recall and turned in my remaining 2 month supply for replacement. I told my pharmacy I want the Eon lab brand, now I'm just waiting for my Dr. to approve the refill. I'm looking forward to trying a new brand. After what I experienced with Teva/Barr I will never use their brand again for any medication. Teva is a despicable company.

Cool Re: Has anyone noticed change in Adderall (brand, not generic) formula?

I have been on original Richwood Adderall since January 1997, later
ShireUS Adderall. Things have gone to hxxx in a handbasket, in the
past 3 years. #1 there was a lot of legal issues between "Barr Labs"
+ Barr Labs parent company with Shire...big time. Shire finally bailed
completely out of making brand & generic Adderall, as we all know.
It is no secet that Shire wants to insure the success of their long
term patent protected Adderall XR and their Vyvanse, with its very
high mark-up's and that was another reason, they sold out to "Barr"
Unfortunately for American's with A.D.D. two (2) foreign national
generic notorious "mooch" pharmaceutical giants, "Teva of Israel"
(bought out Barr Labs 12/31/08) and worse yet, Ranbaxy of India,
entered into a legal joint venture a year ago with Core Labs, who
also mfg. generic adderall, and both products are getting a increasing
poor reputation. I blame this on the history of big foreign generic
pharma, who have built their strength on selling to 3rd world countries, and have a reputation for using cheap fillers, etc. Example, when
Ranbaxy bought out the high quality Terapia Pharma of Romania, their
excellent diazepam (Valium) became inconsistent & of poor quality, also
when Teva, started mfg the generic version of "Ambien" (hypnotic)
everyone hates that generic, because the fillers are so cheap, the
effects is very watered down, compared to other Ambien USA generics.
Please beware of Core generic Adderall, and/or Ranbaxy generic Adderall,
(I've had both and they were awful). I compare to many years prior to
Adderall inception yr (1994) to other (now discontinued stimulants) such as USA Biphetamine, USA Desoxyn Gradument Extended Release, Dexamyl,
SKF Dexedrine E19 5mg "Pink Hearts", all history now.
Maybe the good news about, Eon Labs by Sandoz Pharma, will offer us
more hope!! I intend to seek that med out myself!!!!!!

I KNEW Eon Labs made great Adderall! Here is what I posted back on 11/02/08:

"The best ever generic of Adderall that I've ever had (before I switched to Dex) was Eon Labs. Does anyone know if Eon Labs is still around? Does Eon Labs still make a generic for Adderall?"

http://www.addforums.com/forums/show...on+labs&page=4

This confirms that Eon Labs makes a great product. I could tell and feel that they were awesome.

Wow! This completely contradicts what some here in this forum have said that the "so called" differences in generics and brand Adderall are just "in our heads". Not true. ADDers are often hypersensitive to meds and subtle differences in meds.

Big changes in BRAND ADDERALL FORMULATION

YES BIG TIME CHANGES!

Ive been taking Adderall 30 MG BRAND ONLY for five years now. I have ADD and Panic Disorder and am extremely sensitive to any slight changes in medication, including generic formulations. I'm long time user of brand adderall 30 mg and has always been great, no need for increase in dose or anything. However, Ive been intolerant to the corepharma generic version ive tried.

The new differently imprinted formulation is terrible. I feel yuck! and certainly, its therapeutic effects are diminished. The reaction I am having to this new brand formula is eerily similar to the reaction I had with corepharma generics.

*Does not control ADD symptoms whatsoever
*Feel spacy, detached, tired
*Really bad stomach upsets, headaches

This really sucks. I have Medco prescription insurance (which is terrible BTW) and had to pay $424 for the 3 month supply and Im stuck with this CRAP! I left a msg with my doc asking about the other generic formulation by Eon Labs.

I have tried generics in the past for Adderall, the pink ones, (YUCK!) with very bad side effects . Ive never tried the Sandox / Eon Labs / Novartis version of the generic, but Im reading that its a great forumation.

"Wow! This completely contradicts what some here in this forum have said that the "so called" differences in generics and brand Adderall are just "in our heads". Not true. ADDers are often hypersensitive to meds and subtle differences in meds."

Here is story of another generic MADE BY TEVA that severely impacted this women's life after she switched from brand wellbutrin to TEVA's generic. MSN NEWS.
This article exposes Teva and Ranbaxy and discusses if generics are the same as brand
http://health.msn.com/health-topics/...0243705&page=1

"One patient wrote, “I have no history of suicidality, but a day after switching to the generic, I went into a week of steadily rising panic…. I was psychotic, self-loathing way WAY beyond anything I have ever experienced. I made it through the worst of it, called a suicide hotline, took two Ativan and didn’t take any more of the Budeprion. The next day I felt much better, and today I’m back to my normal self.”

"Graedons collaborated with ConsumerLab.com, an independent testing laboratory in White Plains, N.Y., to find out. Testing revealed that the 300 mg Budeprion XL dose Hubbard had taken dumped four times as much active ingredient during the first two hours as the brand name did. Graedon compares the effect to guzzling alcohol. “If you sip a glass of wine over the course of two or three hours, you’re not going to feel drunk,” he explains. “But if you drink the whole thing in 15 minutes, you’re getting too much too fast.”

"Release formulas, which control how quickly a drug dissolves in your bloodstream, are something drug companies carefully develop and patent. And these release-formula patents often remain in place after the patent on a drug’s active ingredient has expired. That means generic companies must sometimes engineer their own release mechanism, as happened in the case of Budeprion XL. After complaints started rolling in, the FDA concluded in a 2008 report that patients’ problems were more likely caused by normal relapses of depression than by differences in the drugs, and Teva stressed that it followed all the FDA’s rules. But that report—and the original approval of the 300 mg pill—was based solely on data Teva had submitted for the 150 mg pill; the agency’s judgment was that the doses were proportional and would behave similarly in the body. “Neither the FDA nor Teva did the required bioequivalence studies for this pill,” counters Tod Cooperman, M.D., president of ConsumerLab.com."

If you want to get generic. Get an authorized generic which is made by the brand company and sold under a private label at a generic price. In the case of Wellbutrin there is an authorized generic made by Watson pharmaceuticals.

The list of currently available authorized generics (you have to find out who makes them)
http://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/CentersO.../ucm126391.htm

From wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorized_generics
"Authorized Generics are prescription drugs produced by brand pharmaceutical companies and marketed under a private label, at generic prices. Authorized Generics compete with generic products in that they are identical to their brand counterpart in both active and inactive ingredients[1]; whereas according to the Office of Generic Drugs, generic drugs must contain identical active ingredients as the brand[2]. Authorized Generics compete with generics on price, quality and availability in the generic marketplace"

Unhappy Re: Has anyone noticed change in Adderall (brand, not generic) formula?

Hi there. I had my last scrip of generic adderall xr filled at CVS on 8/20 for the first time. Previously i had only had them filled at Rite Aid. I have not felt right since then. I have been suspicious, but thought maybe it was just me. I have felt like crap! I hate feeling this way. And I have had headaches for like the past 2 weeks. I just moved from MD to SC and do not have a new dr. yet. I have called my previous dr., but she will have to mail the scrip. Is there anything I can do considering how bad I feel???

Re: Has anyone noticed change in Adderall (brand, not generic) formula?

I have noticed a change since switching to the generic. The generic medication seems to be released less consistently and more in bursts. I have been taking Adderall XR 10mg for over a year and have been on the generic for 3 months.

I asked my doctor and he said although the FDA is very strict, there could some differences in the timed release mechanisms. Shire had the patent on the release system and not the chemical compound.

I just payed a bit more to refill my Rx with the brand name to see if I notice a difference. I'll report back my experience.

Wow, lots of first time posters in here reporting problems with their medication changing on them.....Sounds like Barr/Teva/Shire really need to get their act together or they're going to start losing a lot of business to Sandoz. They already lost one "customer"...

Re: Has anyone noticed change in Adderall (brand, not generic) formula?

This probably is a dumb question, but how does on go about asking or requesting a certain generic? My local CVS has been fluctuating between Barr and Cor for the last few month. I hate Barr and think Cor is OK at best. I'm interested in trying the Eon one. Do I need to get my doctor's approval or have him to call my pharmacy? Will my insurance still charge me the same price for the generic? Thanks!

Re: Has anyone noticed change in Adderall (brand, not generic) formula?

I'm almost positive it's within your rights to request whatever you want brand-wise from the pharmacy. You may want to call ahead of time though, in case none of the pharmacies in your area carry it. I almost had to wait 3 days to get brand name with no medication left, but after going to 3 different pharmacies I eventually got it. Thankfully the one right next to my doc carries Sandoz/Eon (my brand of choice now), so I don't have to go far at all.
