Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
Hey everyone -- I am currently on Vyvanse 70 mg. I was on Adderall XR 25 shortly before being swapped to Vyvanse 70 mg. I preferred the Adderall XR 25, because of the recreational high I got, and how it worked in 15 mins after taking it, but Vyvanse is much better for controlling my symptoms, with no crash, and a lighter crash when I decide not to take it.
Overall, Vyvanse is definitely better for controlling my ADHD symptoms than Adderall XR, but since being swapped to Vyvanse, I've gained weight. The hunger loss is almost unnoticable with Vyvanse, but I barely ate on Adderall XR 25. Has anyone else noticed that with vyvanse? |

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
Vyvanse has had the opposite effect on me. I have no real appetite throughout the day.
I take a couple days off a week just so I can refuel my body with lots of food. I've lost like 20lbs so far....

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
I'm just concerned because I have been obese nearly all my life, [250 lbs+... I'm 19, by the way] and I hadn't been at a healthy weight until I started low-carb dieting around the age of 17. Toward the beginning of the year, when I was started on Adderall XR, I lost nearly 20 lbs in 2 months, and for the first time in my life -- was at a healthy weight [about 175 lbs]. After being on Vyvanse, I started gaining weight, and now I'm back up to around 205 lbs. 30 lbs in 6 months isn't too much of an incline, but I think it's because of poor food choices, as I just assumed that I wouldn't gain weight on amphetamines. I've been struggling to get back to my low-carb lifestyle... but I guess I'm tired of it after 2 years.
Wish me luck... I just really wish I could get back down to a healthier weight.. and I guess Vyvanse does curb my hunger throughout the day. I just seem to make up for it in the evenings with strong hunger cravings that I don't remember having on Addy XR. |

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
I know how hard it can be to make good, healthy food choices especially when you have gone most of the day without taking in any nourishment. Being super aware of what you're snacking on would be a good idea, especially if you're doing late night eating (like me!).
Good luck!!

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
Vyvanse cut my hunger for 2 days. I've steadily been losing weight though because I don't crave junk food anymore.

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
That's crazy... I really can't eat for about 5 hrs after I take it, but I wind up getting hunger cravings once it wears off.
I think that's why I've gained weight. [I figured I could eat whatever I wanted since I was on amphetamines] |

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
WOW!
Vyvanse has the opposite effect on me too. I have no appetite at all. I know I should eat, but when I finally make it into the kitchen, I just open the fridge, and stand there. And, if I FINALLY make a choice... take a bite... nah... that's not what I wanted. ![]() Or when everyone is talking about lunch or where to go for dinner, it's like I just don't have an opinion... Very strange, because at 256 pounds, I obviously like to eat. This could definately end up helping me lose some of this fat! For that I am excited! ![]() >btw... I am on my third week of 70mg. (I was on 120mg Adderall for 4 years)

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
Did you mean 20 mg adderall?
Do you prefer the Vyvanse, because I do in most cases. My big cons are that it takes 1 hr + to kick in. I liked the adderall XR, because I'd wake up, take my pill, go shower, and then I'd be ready to go. ![]() |

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
I sure wish this stuff would impact my appetite. I could stand to drop a few lbs., but it has no effect on my appetite at all. Of course it does impact metabolic rate, so maybe over time....

On your second question, yes I DO prefer Vyvanse, mostly because it is a smoother experience, and I can get to sleep at night. People say they've noticed a big difference in me, in general. On Vyvanse, I get the "focus I need" for about 4 hours during the late morning to early afternoon. And then there is a fairly smooth transition down to "normal person" mode. Being normal... THAT is what I am trying to adjust to the most! Back when I was on that much Adderall, I used to zoom through the day, be wired til midnight or later, only get about 4 hours sleep, and then at it again at 6AM. I was literally burning myself out. ![]() On this stuff, I get "some" work done, I get a full night's sleep, and I get to hang out with my wife at night, and watch TV, talk, etc. (like normal people). The Appetite suppressant effect was just a bonus. ![]()

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
I feel that Vyvanse does indeed supress hunger. However, it is very easy to overcome. Its not strong enough to the point where I feel that I cant eat at all, but the meals I do eat end up being slightly smaller portions than normal. I am trying to bulk up by going to the gym and I dont feel that it is supressing the hunger to the point where its intolerable. I end up drinking alot of weight gainer shakes throughout the day to make sure I am getting my calories.
However, for those out there that are trying to lose weight, it might help slightly. IMO. |

Re: Vyvanse 70 mg doesn't decrease appetite?
I've been on Vyvanse for about 2 months, and lost over 20 pounds in those 2 months. I'm a junior in HS and weigh 120 pounds... Definately not a good weight for my age. I just can't seem to find the right way to become hungry. I make myself eat lunch (alot of lunch) and I eat a really big dinner, but I just sit at 120. At least it's not dropping anymore. What kind of shakes do you drink digitalninja? (brand name)
