been on it for 10 days now..

and I don't see it helping very much yet. I heard that optimum performance is reached after 20 or so days at a therapeutic dose, and right now I am up to 25 mg only. I've got 40mg Strattera and also 60mg, but I'm going up gradually. Anyway, should I keep giving it a try?

I've noticed:
sexual side effects (early ejaculation.... )
insomina once I've gotten up ... usually happens at like 6:30 AM and then I can't go back to bed
headaches
stomachaches
SLEEPINESS 1-2 hours right after I take it
dizziness - experienced for the first time last nite.

This was me on Adderall XR: :bowl:

this is me on strattera:

25mg is a small amount of Strattera, and 10 days is a bit of a long ramp-up to 25mg!! Have you had problems taking medications before? I'm wondering why your Dr has you on such a slow start. At the theraputic dose, most people will see the effects fairly quickly, within a week or two, if the drug works for them. Some people may take longer, so you should give it at least 3 or 4 weeks before giving up.
How are the side effects for you, are they pretty bad? 'Cus if they aren't you might want to ask your Dr why he/she chose to go so slow, and if you should increase it a bit faster. Probably, he's just being carefull. The side effects will diminish over time - they do in most people. My Dr tells me that 4-5 weeks is usually how long it takes for a person's body to adapt.
Regards,
Greg

Well, I was questioning that last night. I asked my mom and she said we should just do what he said. But I don't know, this is the same doctor that had me on four psychotropic medicines at the same time!! At one point I was on Depakote ER, Wellbutrun SR, Effexor XR, and Adderall XR. All at once! Sounds a bit excessive, huh?

Right now I am on Strattera 25mg, Wellbutrin SR, and Effexor XR. I think maybe he might be going up so slowly because of the other medicines.. or maybe because of the side effects. Adderall was the only medicine I had to be taken off of as a result of the side effects. Other than that I usually do okay.

We started off at 18mg for 4 days, then 25mg for 12 days, then 40mg for 4 days, then 60mg for 12 days. You know the sample pack things that they market? That's what we got.

The side effects are usually just minute to moderate. I usually don't have that bad of problems with it. The only thing I noticed that I disliked a lot was the fact that I wake up much earlier and then can't fall back asleep. This morning I was up at like 5:45 AM! But then again I was pooped last night and went to bed at 9:00 PM...

Anyway, what else do you have to say?

Didn't I read somewhere that it wasn't a good idea to take strattera and wellbutrin at the same time? I forget, but they either intensify each other, or cancel each other out.

As Casey Stengel used to say, "You could look it up!"

Good point Stranger!
Wellbutrin surpresses an enzyme that metabolizes a lot of different drugs - including Strattera! (CYP2D6 to be specific). The result is that the effects of the Strattera are increased! The same is true of the Effexor - it's effects are also amplified by the Wellbutrin.
NOW I UNDERSTAND THE LOW DOSAGE!!!
All three of these drugs work on noradrenaline and serotonin, and the Wellbutrin works on dopamine as well. Your Dr is probably using small doses of all three to get the effect that helps you best!
Perfect example of why you always, always ask your Dr before taking the advise of some guy on the internet like me - your Dr knows all of the information! I didn't realize you took all three drugs - even though I now remember you mentioning it on another thread.
Good luck and keep us posted on how the Strattera, et al, is working!
Regards,
Greg
