Adderall and Penis Shrinkage

I noticed that whenever I take Adderall it does shrink my penis significantly. Does anyone else have the same problem? Is this a problem that will go away with time? Would Dexedrine, Concerta, and Vyvanse have this same side effect?

One of the effects of Adderall, and all stimulants, is called vasoconstriction. Vasoconstriction, in layman's terms, means a decrease in local blood flood. The decrease of blood flow happens because amphetamines narrow blood vessels; when a blood vessel is narrowed, less blood is able to get from point A to point B. This is happening everywhere in your body--often times, the penis is the only visible effect, since the penis contains no structural bone, and relies on blood to achieve it's shape.

On a semi-related note, when we breathe in air, the air is absorbed in the blood, and the heart pumps the blood (containing the air) to the organs. Because of the vasoconstriction, we may feel as if we're not getting enough oxygen, and breathing harder doesn't help, because it's not a problem in the lungs, but rather a problem in the transportation of oxygen due to decreased blood flow.

Your sweating is caused by vasoconstriction as well, just in a different method. The brain is constantly sending messages to all organs of the body in order to maintain a constant "normal" level of body heat (~98.6). The way it "tells" the body to retain heat, if it thinks the body is too cold, is by, once again, constricting blood vessels (vasoconstriction). The reason it does this, is that blood is the primary heating source for our bodies. It retains heat and heats us up from the inside out; when it builds up, heat isn't let out as often. For example, if someone is running, their brain will sense the body temperature rising, send transmissions to constrict blood vessels, the blood will flow more slowly, build up, raise blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature.

After our body temperatures rise, our brain naturally activates sweat glands, and we sweat. So in essence, the reason adderall makes you sweat is the same reason running a mile will make you sweat--less blood can freely travel, which causes the heart to beat faster, and increases body temperature.

Also, your penis should be normal size once you achieve an erection. An erection is caused by the ducts in the penis filling with blood--when they fill with blood, the metaphorical "gates" close which don't let the blood out. For this reason, amphetamines shouldn't cause erectile dysfunction.

ED has been reported, but I have no reason for it. Perhaps someone else could share. All this should go away within a month of continuous use, which is usually the maximum amount of time it takes for your body to adapt to amphetamines (if used at a therapeutic dosage, and at least six days a week).

Don't feel bad, I had the same thing. I thought it was just cold in my house, then I checked the thermostat and found out it wasn't, it was just the med.

Yup, it's normal. You could always try those natural male enhancements, but who knows if those work.

It affected me pretty bad when I was on Strattera, but I don't have this effect on Adderall. However, I do remember reading somewhere that said that regular exercise can improve your overall circulation and lower this side effect. But I wasn't on Strattera long enough to test that out.

If adderall messes with your buddy, i advise trying cialis. Your doc should not have a problem giving you a script for it. Explain the situation and he should understand. Cialis doesnt really have any side effects other than great sex and a nice strong looking buddy that never lets you down. If you cannot get a script try looking for libigrow. It's in a yellow and black package, single capsule, two lover on the front getting it on. It's over the counter in lots of gas stations and can be found online. It works just like cialis or better. Lasts about 4 days and cost about $7 buck a dose. Very good stuff. Hope this helps.
