Celexa?

Does anybody know if Celexa interferes with Dopamine production? Ever since I started to take it at 10mgs, my Adderall and Wellbutrin appears to be not as effective. Also, it is making me tired. I've read on the Web that a study on Baboons revealed this to be the case. If Celexa does inhibit dopamine production/release - why take an ADHD med in the first place?

Re: Celexa?

I'm on Celexa as well, but I don't feel that it interferes with my Focalin. But Focalin was added after Celexa was an established part of my cocktail for a good amount of time.

Re: Celexa?

I have been on generic celexa for a year....I was put on Adderal xr 20mg and 10 mg in the afternoon.

I was wondering what you felt on the meds. I thought that once Adderal got in my system I would be able to focus and get my studies done. I read and do homework and can't remember seem to remember info.

I am not a good student its been 20 years...and I am going back to school.

After about 2 hours I feel better to focus but at first I feel kind of our there and I can't focus on my reading.

Is it the those meds together?

Re: Celexa?

Celexa totally spaced me out. I took it before my ADD diagnosis so obviously I wasn't on stims at the same time but I know it definitely gave me mush-mind in general. :P

What are you being prescribed the Celexa for, specifically?

Re: Celexa?

Meri,

It was to offset anxiety and the bad moods I exprienced when the Adderall wore off. I was perscribed this prior to the Wellbutrin XL side effects (of the amped-up/speedy feeling and anxiety diminishing - as my body adjusted). Now that I have established some measure of tolerence to the Adderall and Wellbutrin - I feel I can cut out the Celexa; and if the Celexa is impeading the Dopamine - I'll hasten to do so. However, I don't have a clear answer if this is the case.

Regards,

RecDir

PS- Does anyone know how Celexa was derived? What is the parent drug or chemical? In doing some reaserch I think it is a modifed property of a stimulant derived from Cocaine. It is a very selective SSRI.

Eek... an SSRI for stim side effects?
Honestly, if you can do without the Celexa, I'd try to drop it.

Have you tried any other stimulants?
