Provigil

Hi I am new to the forum. I am taking Provigil (200mg) and Welbutrin (300mg). These two combinations have done wonders for me. Has anyone heard of Provigil? The positive to Provigil is that it is a smooth med, just like Welbutrin. The negative to Provigil is that it also treats narcolepsy (sp??), which is for people who need help staying up during the day. So I have a hard time going to sleep at night. To help me sleep, I take a non-addictive sleep medication. It puts me out. Without that, I have the hardest time going to sleep. Even thou taking Provigil makes it hard to get to sleep without sleeping meds, it has worked wonders.

Have you tried it at a lower dose ?
How often do you take it (once per day or more)?

I have not tried a lower dose, but I have thought about seeing how I would do with a lower dose. I only take both once a day.

That's weird because it is supposed to allow you to sleep when you want to. In fact that's touted as one of the benefits of Provigil over amphetamine-like drugs, in that you CAN sleep.

MAybe you should try reducing to 100 mg a day and see if that works.

Or else it could be the Wellbutrin as well, which is known to cause insomnia.

But if you're happy with what you're doing I say why change it, if it works for you!

A good number of people have sleep issues from Provigil.

It seems that they can't turn off their alertness...even if fatigue exists.

Yeah, try less and see what happens. You may be able to maintain the positives and have less of the negatives.

i'd say a lower dose also....make sure you take them early in the morning

I think I will cut to 100mg of the Provigil, but keep taking the same mg of Wellbutrin and see what happens. What is the worst thing that could happen?? That I could get tired or that I can't concentrate as much?? To me, its worth trying, ya know. Thanks for everyone's input.
